Summary: "Show me this so-called greatness
of the power of love," Hibari ordered. "Fall in love with me."
Haru could only stupidly gawk at him. Just what the heck did she get herself
involved in? HaruxMultiple Pairings
My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things
untrue or some characters OOC and I guess I'll explain some stuff at the end of
the chapter, just so I won't spoil things! XD
I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn because if I
did, there would be a lot more Haru loving!
Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise
and grammatically wise. lol, i still don't understand the beta system thing and
I don't really have time to re-read and edit things.
Chapter Twelve: Instinct
HappyFace1886
In the past, he would have left it at that. Let
the foolish girl do whatever she wanted. It didn’t matter to him.
But things had changed. It did matter to him.
Try as he may, he just couldn’t get her out of his mind.
The infant’s words still echoed in his head.
In the past, when there was an obstacle, Hibari
would have never allowed it to get in his way. A hindrance it may be, but
nothing he couldn’t handle. It was just that with this girl, everything was
just so different.
Why did it matter so much?
Growling angrily, he whirled around and scowled
at the sight of her smile. It wasn’t the usual smile he was accustomed to
seeing, the one filled with annoyance yet strong fondness. This one seemed
strained and hurting.
Enough thinking. It was getting him nowhere. He
had never been the type to calculate the situation. His instincts were more
than enough for any strategy that could come his way. They had never failed him
so it was time to start relying on them once more.
And right now, it hated that damn smile.
“Why are you doing this?” he demanded.
“Hahi?” she asked, startled.
Hibari took a menacing step forward and Haru
impulsively took a step back, her intuition sensing the powerful agitated aura
that surrounded him. “Why do you bother me? What is it about you that makes you
different from the others? You’re just a weak herbivore! You should mean
nothing.”
She winced at the hurtful comments and he hated
the fact that the tender look affected him. It shouldn’t! It should have just
disgusted him instead! And yet, he stalked towards her, grabbing her by the
shoulders before she could move away again.
“Stop that,” he demanded.
“Stop what?” she asked, a small scowl starting
to appear on her face. He was just so confusing, she didn’t know what to think!
What did he want from her? Even though she did deserve some of those insults
for causing so much trouble, that didn’t give him the right to just tirade
along and play with her feelings like this.
“Stop...” he fumbled for the words, the dark
glower never leaving his face. It made him look frightening, a threat that
should be behold. And yet, she didn’t waver, looking up at him with narrowed
brown eyes shimmering with confusion, sadness, and anger. It was always like
that with her. She never got truly afraid. Even if she did cower under his
threats sometimes, she would always fight back when it mattered. And she did it
in a way that amused him, not like those other bastards who irritated the hell
out of him. Hibari’s fingers clutched onto Haru’s arms tighter and he leaned
closer. “Stop confusing me...”
“Hahi?” she said softly, bewildered by his
words. Her hands wanted to reach up to touch him, but it felt too forward. They
had no real relationship anymore. He had severed everything. But still, he held
her like this... and that expression on his face... it was unreadable and yet
had that same Hibari-esque vulnerability she had caught glimpse of when she was
with him. Even if he claimed that she was speaking nonsense, she knew that he’d
occasionally show sides that people rarely got to see.
Mentally gearing herself up, Haru shakily lifted
her hand and touched his head. He stiffened, but didn’t stop her as her hand
combed through his wild mane.
“How is Haru confusing you?” she asked quietly,
using the same tone of voice that one would when approaching an injured
animal... okay, so maybe he wasn’t an animal, but he sure had the ability to
give off the feel of a frightening, dominant creature.
Powerful.
Intelligent.
And insanely prideful.
Fighting was his forte, but emotions were
another matter. Camaraderie in the lightest sense, he understood more than
anything due to his instincts. And yet, tender emotions, the ones she had tried
to evoke from him, he had never even considered it before.
His intuition knew what it wanted, but his mind
rejected it.
Because to rely on someone was for fools. He
prided on his independence, the strength he believed no one could compare. How
could he possibly feel reliant on another? It became a clash of his nature and
his mentality.
She had been stupid for thinking that it was all
so simple. Teach him the wonders of love and everything would be the same.
His dark eyes watched hers and she didn’t dare
look away. Instead, she stroked his hair gently, tugging at the soft locks.
Maybe it was an intuition of her own that knew it would calm him as the tension
seemed to leave his body. One hand from her shoulders reached upward, cupping
the side of her face.
The normal girlish blush that’d erupt or how
she’d push him away crying she was saving herself for the love of her life
didn’t appear... because this was serious.
She had dared to approach the beast, foolishly
as she had might, and she now needed to take responsibility.
But it wasn’t obligation that made her stay
still, even as he leaned closer to her, his hot breath mingling with hers.
Because even if she hadn’t even thought it out,
she knew the reason why she’d do everything possible to make the wrong she did
to him right.
...still, that didn’t stop the small whimper
from escaping when he pressed his lips against hers. It wasn’t a frightened
cry, but one of anticipation and embarrassment. The sound only seemed to
encourage him, the hand on her cheek makings its way to the back of her neck,
pulling her closer while his lips pressed more insistently against hers.
The feel of her petite body against him made
Hibari tighten his hold against her. The tension that had filled his body ever
since Hideo had gotten under his skin disappeared, replaced with a need to
somehow get his fill of this girl before him. It was relieving, the turmoil in
his mind ceasing while replaced with the normal calmness and drive he was
accustomed to.
His tongue stroked the seams of her lips and she
gasped in surprise, her eyes snapping open while he pressed closer, taking
advantage of this opening to slip his tongue into her mouth. Her fingers
clutched onto his hair while her other hand held the front of his shirt, but
she didn’t resist, making small mewling noises as his scorching tongue explored
her mouth.
Her taste was so invigorating that he indulged
himself by slowly stroking her tongue against his own, one hand stroking her
spine encouragingly while the other tugged at her soft brown locks. The
sensations he evoked made her tremble and if it wasn’t for his hold around her,
she would have fallen over.
Hibari allowed his instincts to roam free,
languidly curling his tongue around hers before pulling away, his lips kissing
the corner of her lips. She clung to him as he made his way lower, his mouth
latching onto her neck. Haru shuddered, whining at the back of her throat when
he kissed her pulse. It made her utterly aware of how vulnerable she was before
this powerful being.
“Is...” she asked breathlessly, her cheeks
brightly flushed while her limbs clumsily held onto him. “Is Haru still
confusing Hibari?”
“Kyouya,” he corrected and said nothing more,
holding her closer while relishing at her scent and the feel of her against
him. This was what he had instinctively yearned for and had always denied for
what it represented.
Weakness?
The cocky smirk tinged with arrogance, the one
that was most befitting for him, appeared.
He had no weaknesses.
For anyone who encroached on his territory, he
would easily bite them dead.
From a distance, binoculars zeroed in on the
couple embracing within the park. He had been informed about the animalistic
sense of the Prefect and had taken caution by keeping watch from a safe
location.
“Inform Hideo-sama that the Prefect is back with
the girl.”
