Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

As the title states, Merry Christmas to everyone out there in the world. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas and that they're spending it with the people they care about. Life is hard enough as it is so we should cherish whatever good memories we can make and even if there aren't presents that are being given or exchange, at least we're alive, healthy, and with the people with care about.

....though many of you know, it's all about the presents! Muhahahaha!!! I'm just kidding with you guys... >_>.... sort of....

Anyways, as many of you guys have probably noticed, there has been a lack of updates. Originally, my plan was to give you guys tons of updates while I was on break, but apparently life has decided to keep me occupied. Darn life! I ended up slaving away at the house doing horrible labor such as taking care of my dog and spending time with my familiy.

.....

>__>

Lol, I wasn't just playing around with them though. I had to build a dog house for my dogs because of how the rainy season was going to start and that took a while. My dad and I ended up building an extremely huge dog house that can fit three people in there -four if everyone squeezed in, but it would be just snug. And then I had to help with the shopping and cleaning and... argh....

As weird as this may sound, I think I may start updating again once school starts. >___> i know, i know, I'm one of those weird people who update during time when people should be extremely busy.... I blame procrastination. XD

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas or Happy (insert name of religious holiday) and that you all will be happy, safe, and loved! 8D Because I sure as hell love you guys!

Thank you Opi for your note of concern! I'm sorry I disappeared so abruptly. Apparently winter break is very busy for me. <_< who'd a thunk?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!! <3

Wash It All Away - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 8086

ONESHOT

Summary: The Rain was Happiness. The Rain was Pain. To Haru, the Rain was him, her everything... Pure YamamotoHaru

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC and I guess I'll explain some stuff at the end of the chapter, just so I won't spoil things! XD

I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn because if I did, there would be a lot more Haru loving!

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically wise. I don't really have time to re-read and edit things.

This is a oneshot created for the poll I made a while ago about what kind of Yamamoto my dear readers wanted. You guys just had to go and choose the most complicated one. @___@ Well... I hope I succeeded in giving you guys what you want. <3

Wash It All Away

HappyFace1886

For Haru, the rain was special. There were times when it made her so happy, but there were also times when it had the power to tear her heart into shreds. In a way, it was ironic due to the heavy representation the rain seemed to hold in various cultures.

In some worlds, the rain represented fortune.

Most couples loved it when they went on romantic dates. There would be a quiet picnic followed by a serene walk in a rose filled garden. For others, it would be a candle-lit dinner and the walk would take place at a beach with the full moon high in the air.

Years ago, Haru would have been one of those people.

But now, after constant exposure to the dangerous world of the Mafia, it was the little things that made Haru smile with joy.

Waking up in the arms of the one she loved was enough to make her tear up. Being able to run her hand through his short, messy mane made her sigh in content. Seeing him giving her a content smile made her want to kiss him endlessly.

And then when he would whisper her name...

“Haru.”

...as if it was the most precious word in the world.

He would then caress her cheek, gently pulling her closer until his lips were pressed firmly against hers. The moment he felt her softness, his hunger would grow and the kiss would become desperate to the point that she could feel his pain, his longing. He would tightly grip her hair, losing his hand within the forest of her soft locks.

“Takeshi,” she would gasp out, her bruised red lips parting with her soft cries. His lips would be eagerly attacking her throat as he would lave it lovingly with his tongue as he clung to her. The feel of her body against his, to know she was alive and healthy right before him, made him ache so much for her.

Yes, they didn’t need useless things like romantic settings or dinner dates.

Just seeing each other, to be lying peacefully next to each other, was more than they could ask for.

But, no matter how many times Haru wistfully wished to deny it, some worlds viewed the rain as misfortune.

As loneliness.

As death.

There was so much blood.

It stained the table she and Takeshi had their morning coffee.

It stained the white couch with the mismatched cushions she had personally chosen to decorate with.

And it stained the very bed the two would always wake up in each other’s arms every morning.

But despite the carnage and destruction, Haru couldn’t help but feel grateful that none of the blood belonged to her or anyone that she cared about. Still, her heart cried in despair as she clung onto the waist of her lover, preventing him from laying the final blow on the unconscious assassin lying on the floor of their bedroom.

“Please Takeshi,” she pleaded. “It’s enough... he can’t move anymore.”

He didn’t say anything, remaining still with his katana poised to kill.

“Look, his limbs are nearly torn off. He’s no danger to anyone.”

“He nearly killed you.” Yamamoto’s whisper was soft, but it echoed loudly within the room.

Haru almost recoiled at the fact. Her neck still burned in pain and though the bleeding had lessened, the sting still lingered. Slowly, one of her hands strayed to her neck and she winced when she pressed her hand against it. Haru leaned her head against Yamamoto’s strong back, feeling comforted by his presence.

“But he failed.”

Yamamoto’s muscles tightened even more under her. “But what if he hadn’t? If I had been a second too late, you would be dead! He could have killed you and it... it...”

Haru forcibly turned Yamamoto around and grabbed his face with her hands. “Look at me Takeshi. I’m alive! I’m alive, right here, right now, and right in front of you! If it wasn’t for you, I’d be dead right now! So please... please stop this.”

The katana clattered to the ground and Haru gently lowered her hands, trying to hide the quiver in them.

So close...

She had been so close to dying tonight.

But that didn’t matter. She was alive. That was what truly mattered.

Yet when she looked up at her lover and saw the blood –her blood– staining the side of his face, she couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down.

“I’m fine,” she hiccupped. “I-I’m fine... so-.”

Yamamoto swiftly pulled her towards him, enveloping her in his strong arms. He ran his fingers through her hair almost nostalgically, and the bitter irony didn’t escape her since in reality he had done just that this morning before the assassination attempt. He shushed her gently into her ear, rubbing his cheek against hers in an attempt to soothe her fears.

He was so sorry...

So, so sorry for putting her in such a dangerous situation.

His eyes darkened at the scent of her blood, at the taste of it through the blood stain left on parts of his lips.

Never again.

He would never allow her to be in danger ever again.

It didn’t matter if he had to kill.

It didn’t matter who he had to maim and destroy.

She didn’t deserve to be hurt or to be haunted by the dark.

He would protect her.

Because she was the other half of his heart...

...Just as he was the other half of hers.

But in the end, none of those symbolisms mattered to Haru.

To her, the rain was special because it was what defined her Takeshi.

Some may think she might mean that he is the strong, kind-hearted man who had the power to fill her with so much love that she sometimes felt as though she was going to burst into a million little hearts or that, just like the isolated morose rain, he was the dark, powerful man who had the power to fill her with so many tears whenever he fell injured or became caught up within the dark world of the Mafia.

But no...

Takeshi Yamamoto was her rain because no matter how dark or bright the day was, he always had the power to wash it all away and fill her world with his love.

And that was what she loved the most about him.

Picnic

HappyFace1886

“Waah, isn’t today a wonderful day?” Haru cheered, raising her arms in an attempt to embrace the warm breeze that came their way. Standing behind her was Hibari who had his arms crossed, looking completely unimpressed by her. She felt her mood slightly falter when he quirked an eyebrow at her, as if waiting for her to elaborate. “Hahi, don’t be such a party-pooper Kyoya!”

“This is nonsense.” He said in deadpan.

“No, this is a picnic!” Haru cheered, pulling out the checkered picnic spread and opening it on top of lush green grass. They were currently on a very high hill with a tall tree providing them shade. Hibari was leaning against said tree and was still looking –at least in Haru’s eyes- a bit sulky.

Haru winced and tried to give him her best, cheerful smile. “Don’t just stand there Kyoya! A b-boyfriend is supposed to h-help their g-girlfriend!”

Hibari remained where he stood. “Judging by how we’ve interacted so far, the purpose of having a boyfriend seems to be so that a weak, helpless female will have a male catering to their every whims.”

Haru’s face flushed, but it had nothing to do with embarrassment. Anger was boiling in her veins and she stood up indignantly, pointing a finger at him. “That’s not true! It’s only good manners to help others!”

“Why should I help when I’m an unwilling participant?” Hibari countered smoothly, staring at the offending finger and wondering if he should just hurry and put her in her place. He had, after all, endured her annoying personality for so long and had still yet to see even an inkling of having the same power Sawada had shown.

“Just help Haru!” she yelled and Hibari gave an unnoticeable sigh.

Perhaps one more chance.

“See, didn’t Haru pack a lot of delicious food?” Haru asked, her eyes sparkling in delight at all the perfectly packaged foods. She had even gone as far as buying a cake from the pastry store. Haru Appreciation Day wasn’t until a week later, but since this was for the sake of helping her... ‘friend’... Haru decided that it would be worth buying.

“Hn.” He grunted, sitting stiffly on the picnic blanket.

“Don’t be shy, dig in!” she cheered, snapping her chopsticks apart. Still, Hibari refused to move, staring at the food apathetically. Haru almost huffed at how frustrating he was being and began to ponder on what to do next.

After all, this was supposed to be another date... right?

After the whole shopping fiasco, she had decided that they needed to relax, something soothe the nerves that had risen after the dangerous incident.

Of course, Hibari had declined, saying he was not stressed what-so-ever and that the excursion against the thugs had actually relieved the stress that had piled up when he had been forced to go shopping with her.

At this, Haru’s mood darkened ever so slightly. How dare he say she was causing him stress when she, who was doing him such a great favor, was always getting headaches because of how frustrating he was and because of how she was always avoiding Tsuna-kun and everyone else so that they wouldn’t catch her d-d-dating him.

Haru mentally shook her head. This was not what she should be focusing on right now! In order to get Hibari to participate she had to make this into a lesson and... well... er... this was a lesson, in the end. Though Haru had decided on a picnic so that they could relax, it was also because it was couples did together.

And when couples went on picnics together, they...

Haru’s face flushed as she stared at her chopsticks. Suddenly they had become the enemy. Oh why, oh why did she snap them before she had managed to coax Hibari to take his own pair?

Her stare turned into a glare and she almost growled. That’s right! How dare her chopsticks turn against her in such a manner when she had done nothing whatsoever to it?

Meanwhile, Hibari watched the fleeting emotions in Haru’s face. The girl was so expressive it bordered being ridiculous. The only thing Hibari didn’t understand was the cause of such emotions. Why was she embarrassed one moment and then angry in another when nothing had happened so far that could have caused it?

He was broken out of his revere when he saw her reach for one of the tamagoyaki when, to his surprise, she lifted it up towards him. Her face was still brightly flushed and she was looking everywhere but at him.

“H-Here,” she mumbled, trembling with discomfort.

He looked at her before looking at the shaking tamagoyaki.  Was she serious? “I decl-.”

“Just eat it!” she almost yelled. Couldn’t he see how uncomfortable this was for her? Why couldn’t he just take the egg? First the chopsticks and now him! Why was the world so against her? At this, Haru’s face flushed even darker. Noooo, why was she getting angry at him for? He didn’t do anything wrong! She struggled to give him a smile. “I-I mean... t-this is what g-girlfriend’s do for their b-boyfriends...”

He continued to stare at the egg. “...in repayment for helping them with menial, ridiculous tasks?”

Her eyes goggled and she almost threw the egg at this face. “No! T-This is because g-girlfriend’s w-want to f-feed their boyfriends!”

“For what reason? To bribe them, to-.”

Haru couldn’t take it anymore. She shoved the tamagoyaki into his mouth. It had taken her some time, but after spending some time with him, she had discovered that unless she did something really ridiculous and offensive, he wasn’t going to touch her.

.....hopefully shoving food into his mouth didn’t count as being ridiculous or offensive in his book.

Haru clenched her eyes shut and prepared herself for a possible blow to the head. But after a few long breaths of waiting, she realized that nothing was happening. Blinking, Haru slowly opened her eyes and saw Hibari looking at her impassively.

“It’s passable.”

Haru returned his stare before looking away, cheeks puffing indignantly. “Haru’s cooking is better than just passable!”

Haru slept soundly on top of the picnic blanket, overcome by exhaustion because of how ridiculously frustrating Hibari could be and because of the beautiful weather that demanded that one enjoy with a nap.

She was curled up against Hibari’s side, who was lying beside her... which he did only because he too enjoyed the weather and would normally be found slumbering on the rooftop of Namimori Junior High around this time if it wasn’t for this silly girl.

Still, he found himself closing his eyes, surprised that he didn’t even mind that the girl was burying her face into his side.

After all, it was a beautiful day.

Teaching this foolish girl that he hated crowding could wait until another time.

Chapter Nine: The Goodbye

HappyFace1886

Hibari moved so fast that Yamamoto was barely able to block what would have been a lethal blow for Hideo. The two glared at each other as they became caught at a standstill.

“Move.” Hibari snarled.

“You’ll kill him.” Yamamoto replied.

“Then let the herbivore die.” Hibari broke away from Yamamoto before lunging once more. The bastard deserved to die after what he had done. How dare he touch Namimori? Hibari’s home, the land placed under his protection? “Move, or suffer the consequences.”

“Haru-chan won’t be happy if you kill someone.”

Almost against his will, Hibari felt his body stiffen before he growled, stalking backwards. He didn’t lower his offensive stance and appeared ready to attack any moment now. His current situation was so pathetic that he could feel his anger growing. For what reason did he have to stop? Because of a mere girl? A girl he had only known for a few days?

The carnivore in Hibari snarled angrily.

He refused to be caged.

He would not be caged!

“That’s right,” Hideo sneered from the floor. “Now you wouldn’t want your precious Haru-chan to be unhappy with you?”

The katana Yamamoto had been holding slammed in front of Hideo and he gave Hideo a charming smile. “Please refrain from talking from now on.”

Hibari’s eyes shifted towards the glowing screen and he almost destroyed the machinery. The police were now involved, the flashing light of blue and red reflecting off his glowering eyes. This was such a damn mess. Once he found Haru, there was going to be hell to pay.

...Hibari’s eyes widened at how he had, once again, included Haru in his mindset.

The damn girl!

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps and yells were heard and the three turned towards what was left of the entrance to see Tsuna and Gokudera running in followed by... Haru.

Hibari’s eyes roved over the small girl’s figure. Her face was still bruised because of the attack that had happened during their ‘date’. A red flush adorned her face due to how hard she had been running and worry was practically glowing in her eyes.

“K-Kyoya,” she managed to say in between breaths, unaware of how Gokudera stiffened and Tsuna winced. Slowly, she walked over towards him, tears almost gathering in her eyes when she saw that he was fine. “You’re alright... you’re...”

She raised a hand in order to touch him, but gasped when he grabbed her wrist. Her eyes landed on his eyes and she almost shuddered at the uninhibited anger in them. His grip on her tightened and she winced, almost reflexively trying to tear her arm away from his painful hold, but stilling when she saw how the displeasure in his eyes seemed to be growing.

W-What had happened while she had be kidnapped?

“It was you...” Hibari’s whisper was soft, but Haru could hear the chill in them. It sounded so hollow, as if he had realized something and wasn’t happy with his discoveries.

“Oi,” Gokudera snapped, having seen how Hibari’s grip seemed to be hurting Haru. “Let her go, bastard!”

With a disgusted sneer, Hibari practically tossed Haru’s arm away before walking towards the entrance where she had just entered.

Haru whirled around. “K-Ky-!”

He reacted with such speed that no one was able to even react until Hibari had the tip of his tonfa right in front of Haru, but her eyes weren’t on the bloody weapon. Tears fell from her face as she stared right at Hibari. Why was he doing? What had happened while she had been taken?

“Don’t act so familiar with me,” he snapped. “Next time you appear before me, I won’t hesitate to bite you dead.”

With this said, he turned around once more with his school coat billowing behind him.

“Why?” she yelled, unable to stop herself.

In the past, Haru would have left it at that. After all, she didn’t know the boy long enough to be so familiar with him, but after being forced into this ridiculous situation, it didn’t matter anymore. She cared for him in a degree worth breaking the rules, even if it meant he would hurt her.

And she wanted to know...

Why, why was he suddenly so cold to her when things appeared to have been going great not so long ago?

What had caused the change?

Hibari clenched his hands over his tonfas. Must this girl be so persistent? Must she continue to annoy him even when he was trying to cut ties with her?

But of course, she just had to be that way. He had found that about her during their short moment together. And in a way...

Viciously, Hibari shook his head and gave her an equally vicious glare.

“Because you are being a burden.”

She felt as though she was being sliced open in half when his words were carried over to her ear. Her eyes widened and she couldn’t stop the hitching of her breath. Vaguely, she heard Gokudera yelling obscenities at Hibari’s departing form, but all she could do was breathe hard, trying to hold back the tears that begged to fall.

Her small form trembled and before she knew it, she was hiccupping while her hand tried to cover it up. Why was she crying? Why did it matter? Haru shook her head and began to rub her eyes, trying to wipe the tears away.

They hadn’t even known each other for so long.

Their memories together were short, brief, and yet... sweet...

She jumped when a hand landed on her shoulder. Raising her tearstained face, she looked at Yamamoto who gave her a comforting smile. “Haru-chan...”

Haru sniffled. “Y-Yamamoto-kun.”

“So that was the friend you had to help,” he said softly and Haru, who couldn’t stop the sob, nodded her head while continuing to rub her eyes.

“I-I... I’m sorry,” she began to wail. Gokudera had fallen silent while Tsuna looked near-panicked, unsure of how to help his hurting friend.

“Haru-chan,” Tsuna tried, standing in front of Haru.

She looked at him and only cried harder. Seeing him only reminded her of how this whole fiasco started, of how she had ended up helping Kyo... Hibari... when the two had seen Tsuna and Kyoko walking side-by-side together. Tsuna, seeing how the flowing of tears grew stronger, began to panic even more.

“H-Haru-chan, don’t cry!” he yelped.

“Want... want to go home,” she managed to say in between tears.

Yamamoto sighed. How had this become so complicated? “C’mon, I’ll take you home.”

AN: Once again, short length, but faster update. :D And not to mention, I have more goodies. I'll probably explain again, but I'll explain it here anyways.

I mentioned on Chapter 03 about how I noticed how fast the romance was going and about my displeasure about it, but since no one seemed to really mind, I didn't really try to correct it. Now, I have no time to rewrite this entire thing -nor, do I want to- and I don't really want you, my dear readers, to be put through the torture of re-reading everything, especially since I'm so slow at updates, and so...... *drum roll*... I am creating a series of oneshot depicting how Haru and Hibari interacted before this incident. Like... think of it as previous chapters that weren't posted. Like, their little dates, lessons, etcetc. More interaction, more fluff. :D

So, I guess, parts of those one shots will be incorporated into this fanfic. If there are people still confused and still thinking I'm really crazy - I don't blame you-, the series of oneshots will be depicting what happened before the Hideo incident, but after the shopping fiasco. Pretend Haru didn't get kidnapped out of no where after the she gave him the bento. Pretend the bento incident didn't even happen yet.... which is weird, since Haru still has the bruise, which happens AFTER the shopping incident.

Gah!!! Whatever! I'm giving you people more fluff/comedy/romance, be happy about it and don't think of specifics!

Here's the link to the first oneshot~!

And to the dear anonymous reader who commented about if I had lost my touch or not, no, I have not. There is such a thing called patience -though it does make sense if your patience is at its end because of how slow I'm updating XD. I understand your disappointment and I, as specified when I was re-posting Chapter 03, was also disappointed when I noticed how fast the romance is going when nothing really happened. However, this is a single arc and I don't mindlessly write without a plan. Like you believed, my plan for this arc was to originally bring these two together, but unless Hibari just magically decides emotions are fine and love is all dandy, this was necessary. And no, it's not impossible to bring back the fluff. In fact by writing this arc, it is even more possible to write a fluff that's even more realistic. When I write, I also incorporate -or at least try to- realism into it because that's what I prefer. I also prefer dark fics and as I stated before while I was posting this in fanfic.net, I prefer dark fics than fluffy ones because dark fics are what I'm better at and that this story might take a turn for the dark.

I am not trying to shame you by saying this. In fact, if you had left an email of sort, I would have sent a message this way, but since you did not, this is what I'm left with. I just wanted to explain because I do adore my readers and also, because I'm not the silent type who just bites my tongue when someone says something that I do not believe is true. Also, since I do adore my readers, I'd want to confront them if they feel disappointed by something. And that's another reason why I'm responding instead of being silent. Because I felt as though you were disappointed and wanted to correct it somehow, if possible. Anyways, thanks for your opinion and thank you for reading. :D

Tilted Scale - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - D86S

ONESHOT

Summary: Sequel to Equilibrium; Squalo knew he could take care of the annoying woman just fine by himself. He did not need that annoying blonde scum getting in his way! VOI!

Tilted Scale

HappyFace1886

The moment Squalo heard that the head of the Chiavarone Famiglia was going to make an appearance at the Varia headquarters, he knew something bad was going to happen. It wasn’t that Squalo had a problem with the young Decimo, in fact he often just ignored the trash, but his instincts were telling him to be careful.

And one thing was for sure. His instincts were rarely wrong.

“Squalo-san, are you alright?” he glanced at Haru who had paused in her reading, her brown eyes looking at him in clear concern. His gaze strayed towards the healing wounds and he immediately looked away, unable to stand seeing them.

Even though a few days had passed, the damn girl just healed so slowly.

“Humph,” he grunted before loudly scooting out of his chair. “Let’s go.”

“Hahi?” Haru asked, startled as he stomped his way towards the door. She closed the book and clutched it close to her chest, running as fast as she could in order to catch up to the long-legged man. “W-Where are we going?”

“Training,” he snarled loudly through gritted teeth.

Her eyes widened. “B-But didn’t we just come back from training? Did something happen, Squalo-san?”

An image of the Decimo of Chiavarone Famiglia popped into his head and Squalo felt a vein starting to throb on his head. “Nothing! Voi, we’re just going to go train!”

“Dino-san!” Haru chirped out happily, waving her hand excitedly as she watched the blonde hair man make his way up the staircase. Two members of his Famiglia followed him protectively from behind, remaining close enough so that if anything were to happen, they would have their leader’s back and he would know that they were close enough so that his abilities would not be hindered.

“Hello Haru-chan, I see your injuries are healing up quite nicely.” Dino said gently, watching as Haru wince and smile sheepishly at him.

“Haha, yes, I have Squalo-san to thank for that.” She glanced at the scowling swordsman leaning against the wall and gave him a grateful smile. “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have survived.”

Dino glanced at Squalo and though he maintained his sweet smile, there was a glimmer of disapproval in his eyes. “Yes, we should all be thankful he was able to get to you on time.”

Squalo’s scowl deepened and if Haru wasn’t in the way, he would have charged up to the haneuma and declared battle, diplomacy be damned. But Haru was still healing and wouldn’t be happy with that.

Fuck, he hated this restriction.

And fuck it, he hated for caring.

“Ah, Haru-chan, this is for you,” Dino said, presenting Haru with the large white bag he had been holding. Her large brown eyes stared in wonder as he placed the bag in her hands. “It’s a little something I got for you when I heard that you were recovering.”

Haru opened the bag and gasped, smiling happily when she pulled out a plushy in the form of a Pegasus. In fact, the doll seemed to greatly resemble Dino’s Box Weapon, Cavallo Alato. There were even red flames decorating the horse’s white body. Haru was barely able to contain her squeal as she hugged the doll for all it was worth.

“Thank you Dino-san, it’s adorable!” she said, burying her face into the doll’s softness.

“I’m glad you like it.” Dino said with his smile growing. He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment while a light blush dusted his cheeks. “I had a hard time trying to decide what to get you.”

“It’s wonderful,” Haru ran her fingers through the horse’s mane. After being constantly surrounded by men who’d rather be hacking body parts up –Lussuria-san didn’t count since she was still trying to figure out if he was actually a niichan or a neechan- than showing even the slightest display of affection, she felt content with finally being able to hug something... though the image of Squalo-san being all affectionate and loving did cause a cold shudder to run up her back.

“What’s wrong?” Dino asked in concern when she saw her tremble. “Does something hurt?”

“H-Hahi, it’s alright.” She said only to flush when he reached down and brushed her bangs away, placing his large, warm hand on her forehead. “I-I’m fine Dino-san, r-really!”

“You’re heating up Haru-chan,” Dino exclaimed before turning her around gently, placing a hand on the small of her back as he led her into the hallway. “We should get the doctor to check up on you, just in case.”

“I-I’m fine Dino-san!” Haru protested, but Dino would have none of it. With a simple indulgent smile, he continued to guide her into the corridor.

Meanwhile, Squalo watched them walk away, clenching his fist tightly while he glared at the offending hand that was still touching Haru.

“Miura-san, may I ask why you were out of bed today?” a stern looking old man asked with his arms crossed. Haru winced at the intimidating inquisitive stare and looked shyly at her hands, which were wringing nervously on her blankets.

“H-Haru just wanted s-some fresh air.” She said hesitantly, though unable to meet his eyes.

The man quirked an eyebrow, looking completely unimpressed. “Miura-san, I, Alfonso De Luca, have been the head doctor of the Varia for several years. I’ve had dozens of stubborn men sneak out of bed and believe me, the consequences have not been pretty when I’ve caught a hold of them. You may be a woman and not a member of the Varia, but that does not mean you will be exempted from the rules!”

Haru winced at his harsh yell, but knew better than to defy him. He was right, after all. Though her injuries had been healing nicely, she still shouldn’t move so much. “I’m sorry...”

At her mollified tone, Alfonso seemed to soften up a little. Haru was, after all, not one of those crass underlings of the Varia and she was most definitely not like the stubborn bastards that led the Varia. “I apologize for my roughness Miura-san, but you do not have the stamina and healing ability as the rest of the Varia and thus, I must impose upon you sterner rules lest you worsen your injuries.”

Haru nodded. “Haru promises! She won’t move out of... uh... I mean she-!”

The quirk of Alfonso’s eyebrow returned. “This includes withholding from venturing out when Squalo-san decides to train within the forest.”

“B-But-!”

“Miura-san, please.” Alfonso said firmly. “This is for you own good.”

Haru bowed his head. “Yes...”

From outside of the room, Dino, who had been leaning against the wall from across the door, slowly opened his eyes and began to make his way towards the training room located within the headquarters.

Harsh breathing echoed within the empty room as Squalo stood before the destroyed machinery. A fine sheet of sweat had gathered, but he couldn’t stop the angry frown from appearing. Normally he was able to relieve stress by training, but today, it just wasn’t working.

No matter what he did, the fucking image of that fucking blonde touching Haru came into his head and it fucking pissed him off.

Snarling furiously, he raised his arm to cause further damage to the helpless machine when he heard the snap in the air. Squalo instinctively ducked and rolled out of the way before deadly whip wrapped itself around his neck. Quickly regaining his stance, he held his sword defensively before him and narrowed his eyes at the sight of the fucking blonde in front of the door with his whip poised for attack.

“Voi! The fuck do you want?”

“I came to talk to you.”

Squalo smirked. “Does talking involve trying to kill me?”

“No, that was for allowing Haru-chan to be in danger and this,” Dino cracked the whip threateningly,” this is for further endangering her health.”

“If you want some, come get it!” Squalo roared and immediately lunged for Dino. This was perfect for him. Instead of beating inanimate objects in order to vent his frustration, he could just take it out on the very person pissing him off.

The exchange of blows was sharp and quick. Squalo caught sight of Dino’s men nearby, watching carefully in order to ensure nothing went too far but remaining far enough to give the two sparring men space. Humph, no wonder the clumsy Decimo of the Chiavarone was faring well.

“You should already be aware of the reason why I came here,” Dino managed to whisper before the two broke apart, creating enough space between each other so that they would be able to reassess the situation.

“Why should I give a damn about what those fucking trash think.” Squalo demanded as the two began to circle each other. The two glared warily at one another, ready to attack or defend the moment the time came.

Dino tightened his grip on his whip. “Young Vongola is worried about the fact that a dear friend of his is here with the Varia. Yamamoto-san might believe that she is safe here, but the others aren’t satisfied with just his word, especially not after she was kidnapped while under your care.”

Squalo gritted his teeth at the indirect blow at his pride. They doubted his ability to take care of Haru? “Don’t fucking talk about things you don’t know about, scum!”

“I’ll talk all I want when it concerns Haru-chan’s life!” Dino snapped back, his normally casual pretense destroyed at Squalo’s callous words. “If you don’t care about her, she should be immediately removed from under your care.”

“And where would she go? Back to the pathetic Vongola when they can barely take care of themselves?” Squalo sneered, feeling his hackles rising at the direction of his conversation. Haru was under his care. His! He’d be damned before someone else took what was his.

Dino straightened his back. “No, I’ve already offered young Vongola my services.”

Squalo couldn’t stop from growling. If this piece of trash didn’t stop talking, the Chiavarone Famiglia was going to have to find a new heir very soon.

“Once Haru-chan is fully healed, she’ll be returning with me.”

“Like hell she will!” Squalo hissed. His body was already couched down low, ready to lunge the moment the opportunity arose. But he was too smart to make such amateurish mistakes. Dino’s men were already poised to attack and while Dino wouldn’t allow them to interfere, Squalo knew the men would attack either way if it meant being able to defend their leader. “She’s my charge and I’m not going to hand her over to fucking worthless scum like you.”

Dino narrowed his eyes. “At least with me I can assure Vongola that she would be in no danger.”

“Like you can fucking prevent every kidnapping attempt.”

“At least I’ll be more aware of her condition, instead of forcing her to constantly go outside just because you selfishly need to train.” Dino yelled back, unable to hold his fury. “Haru-chan is not a fighter like the rest of us. She needs more time to heal and even if fresh air does help people heal faster, the constant hike all the way to the area you train is hindering her wounds!”

“Then I’ll fucking stop until she’s fully healed!” Squalo yelled this before his mind could catch onto his words. What the fuck did he just promise?!

Dino also appeared surprised by this declaration. “Y-You would put your training on hold for her sake?”

Unable to take back his words, Squalo glowered at him, but managed a stiff nod. He knew this was no small promise he was making. Squalo had made sure Haru was always with him, even when he trained, because he wanted her to be nearby in case another attack was made. If he was going to keep this promise, he wouldn’t be able to train as much as he wished since he would need to be constantly by her side while she was healing. “If that’s what it takes for her to completely heal, I’ll stop.”

“Do you understand what you’re saying?” Dino asked with a crisp scowl.

“Voi, of course I do!” Squalo snapped.

The two remained in a standstill, watching and observing each other carefully when Dino suddenly straightened his back. He gave Squalo a smile and Squalo couldn’t stop from shuddering at the sight of it.

“Well, I’m glad we both have an understanding.”

Squalo grimaced. “What shit are you spouting now?”

“We both care about Haru-chan.”

Haru cuddled against the plushy, feeling comforted by the fact she had something to cling against when she needed. Even if she did understand and value the importance of space, there were just times when one needed a great, big comforting hug. When she saw Dino-san again, she needed to thank him again for giving her such a wonderful present.

There was a sharp rap on the door before it slammed open. With a loud gasp, Haru sat up fearfully only to sag down when she saw who it was.

“Squalo-san,” she said with a smile.

He grunted and sat down roughly on the chair. “From now on, you’re staying in the medical ward.”

She blinked in surprise. “H-Hahi?”

“Fuck, you heard me. Until you’re completely healed, you’re not leaving this place!”

Haru winced at the loud yell before shaking her head in fierce protest. “But Squalo-san has to train! If-.”

“Stop arguing! Training can wait,” oh gods, he couldn’t believe he was saying this. “Your health comes first. I don’t need the Vongola brats badgering me to death because you got sick.”

“But-.”

“I said you’re staying here so you’re staying here!” he yelled.

“Now, now, there’s no need to yell.” An amused voice cut in.

“Dino-san,” Haru greeted with wide surprised eyes when she saw the familiar blonde enter the room with a brilliant smile. “You’re still here! Haru thought you had left already.”

He shook his head with a chuckle. “No, Haru-chan, in fact, I think you’ll be seeing a lot of me.”

“Hahi?” Haru exclaimed in confusion.

Squalo’s eyes widened as well, but his was filled with outrage. “Oh fuck no!”

“I promised Tsuna-kun to take care of you after all,” Dino sat down on the other chair on the other side of Haru’s bed. “And I managed to get the Nono’s permission to reside within the Varia headquarters until its safe for you to return to Japan.”

“Really?” Haru said with an excited smile. It would be wonderful to have a familiar face around.

“Fuck!” Squalo yelled.

Dino gave the two of them a bright smile and a small nod of his head. “So please take care of me during my stay here!”
