Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

Genesis - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Chapter 05

Summary: There was a reason why Reborn got Haru involved with the Mafia. Even if she was useless to them in fights and even if she couldn't provide as much emotional strength as Kyoko, she was vital and without her, there would just be no Vongola. G86/GiottoHaru

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC and I guess I'll explain some stuff at the end of the chapter, just so I won't spoil things! XD

I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn because if I did, there would be a lot more Haru loving!

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically wise. lol, i still don't understand the beta system thing and I don't really have time to re-read and edit things.

Genesis: Chapter 05

HappyFace1886

“....filthy...”

“Hahi?” Haru jerked backwards at the sound of Attilio’s disgusted voice and the glare he was giving her. She hugged her arms, becoming very self-conscious because of his stare. It was hard to get angry or even gather the strength to defend herself since she really was very dirty. Unlike Giotto who was used to roaming around the forest, Haru had been unprepared for the wild terrain and had ended up falling around a lot.

The school uniform she was wearing was torn here and there and she was literally covered in dirt. She had tried to clean up a bit at the nearby river, but it had been too cold to take a real good bath with and there really had been no time for a proper wash.

“Filthy,” Attilio repeated and Haru’s face flushed.

“It’s not my fault...” she mumbled, but Attilio was no longer listening. If he was even listening in the first place, that is. He was now busy talking to Giotto, speaking in rapid Italian. Giotto looked confused before smiling, heading outside.

“Bath.” Attilio said in a clipped fashion.

She stared at him. Bath? Wait, how did people of this timeline take a bath anyways? She still didn’t know what time period she was in and this log-cabin Attilio and Giotto was residing in was a single room. There was no bathroom or anything!

“Out!” he snapped and Haru scurried outside, too confused to actually argue. The sky was growing dark, but there was still enough light for her to see properly. She heard noises coming from the back of the cabin and made her way there, stopping when she saw Giotto fussing over what appeared to be a very large pot.

He glanced behind him and smiled brightly when he saw that it was Haru. Giotto then paused, unsure of what to say when he perked up. “Bath!”

Haru blinked at him. What did he just say?

Giotto frowned and then tried again. “Bath?”

This time Haru’s eyes widened. What sort of super-hearing powers did he have? Not to mention, Attilio had only said it once from inside the house. It sort of left her in awe. The future Vongola leader was apparently not only charismatic, but intelligent with very good senses.

Almost like a perfect human being...

“Bath?” Giotto repeated, positive that he had gotten the word right and unwilling to back down from it unless Haru said otherwise.

She watched him for a second longer before smiling, nodding encouragingly at him. “Bath.”

The beam from Giotto’s face was blinding and he ran off, grabbing two buckets that were leaning against the small house. He spoke in a flurry of Italian and ran off into the forest.

Haru sighed once he was out of sight. This was good. If Giotto-san was good at picking up another language, this would mean it’ll be a smooth transaction getting him to learn other languages for when he met with the other Guardians. He was still young so there should be quite some time before she even needed to think about the Vongola, but she couldn’t help but worry.

Then from the corner of her eyes, she saw the black pot Giotto had been tending to. It was huge, enough to fit in two grown adults. Glancing beneath it, she saw several stones and piles of wood. Was this some old form of bathtub while the wood beneath it was for a fire to keep the water warm? Well, it made sense since there was nothing else out here...

This meant she was bathing outside, alone, in the dark, in a forest?!

“W-Well Haru will be clean after this!” she said, trying to be positive when another pressing thought came to her head. What about clean clothes? She sure wasn’t going to dress up in her torn, dirty clothes after becoming clean.

“Haru!” she heard a breathless cry and saw Giotto zip right in front of her, the two large buckets in his hands filled with water. He began to pour them both into the tub and was about to rush off again when Haru stopped him. Sure he was fast and strong, but doing all this alone would be too much! She grabbed one of the buckets and held it against her, unwilling to give it up to show that she wanted to help.

He stared at her, appearing a bit conflicted by this idea before grinning in his usual fashion. He went to fetch another one of the nearby buckets and encouraged her to follow him. With an optimistic grin, she went after him.

...only to regret it ten minutes later.

How Giotto ran up and down the hill from the house to the stream and back, she couldn’t understand. And he was doing this with two buckets! She was still in the middle of the hill, clutching onto the handle of her first bucketful of water.

By the time she got to where the tub was, she felt dirtier than before because of the sweat and the time she had sat down on the ground to take a breather. And of course, the water she brought was the last bucketful needed to fill the tub.

Hahi, she was just no match for Giotto. He had basically filled the tub by himself.

“Bath!”

“Yes, bath,” Haru said exhaustedly, turning around only to let out a very loud but short scream as she turned back around. She slapped her hands over her face and began to speak in fast Japanese, forgetting the fact that Giotto couldn’t understand a single word of it. “W-Why are you taking your clothes off!”

Giotto appeared confused and grabbed her by the shoulder, but she jumped and let out a loud squeak before running away. She hid behind a tree and didn’t dare look. ...okay, so she did, but only because she wanted to make sure where Giotto was. The flames from underneath the large tub provided some sort of light and she was thankful that it prevented her from seeing too much of him.

Hahi, thank goodness he was still wearing his pants. But what was going on? Why was he taking his clothes off? U-Unless the bath was for him... but Attilio told her to go out too so that meant she was to take a bath.

...he didn’t expect the two of them to take a bath together, did he?

They weren’t children! T-T-There were rules when it came to people of the opposite gender taking a bath t-t-together! But if she was back in time, did this mean that the rules were a little different here? She was only fourteen... depending on where or when she was, she was either a child or an adult. The concept of teenagers shouldn’t be all that settled....

Hahi, what was she supposed to do in a situation like this?

Before Haru could start tearing her hair out and have a full on panic attack, she heard footsteps behind her.

It was too late for them to be able to draw another bath right after this one and Attilio would surely be unhappy if both of them were still dirty...

“Haru?” Giotto asked softly, as though he was trying his best not to frighten her. His low voice seemed to have a calming effect and the tension somewhat left her shoulders. Still, she couldn’t muster the courage to turn around. “Ha-.”

Reacting without thinking, Haru whirled around and covered Giotto’s eyes with her hands. “Eyes closed!”

“Eh?” though surprised, he didn’t move away or try to take her hands off of him. He could feel her hands quivering against him and it concerned him, making him want to reach out to hold her so that the trembling would stop. But instinctively he knew that he was doing something that upset her so he remained still.

Haru was doing her best to look at anywhere, but at him... especially at his bare torso. “E-Eyes closed...” Since he was smart, he should get the meaning of what she trying to say. At least she hoped. Slowly, she pulled her hands back and continued looking away at the side, mumbling very quietly once more. “Eyes closed...”

“Eyes closed,” Giotto repeated and when Haru looked up, she saw that indeed his eyes were closed. He then slowly opened his eyes, revealing those glowing dual colored orbs. The smile he gave her was reassuring as always and no matter how many times she saw it, she didn’t think she’d ever not be entranced by him.

It always just made her more and more aware of just what sort of man he was going to become.

“Haru, bath,” he said, holding her hand and tugging her towards the now steaming water. The temperature should be perfect around now.

Clenching her eyes shut and inhaling deeply in order to stiffen her resolve, Haru reluctantly followed Giotto. In the past, this was something she would never do, but right now, there wasn’t much of a choice and she didn’t want to create more trouble for Attiliio. He still didn’t seem to like her much and right now she was in a world with no friend or ally.

...well other than Giotto... but she’d hate to isolate him from his friend because of her selfish needs.

And it wasn’t like Giotto had any bad intentions.

This was just taking a bath.

A bath.

A. Bath.

Haru clutched onto the pillow on the bed, her face completely flushed while she was unable to open her eyes to look at anyone. If this was what it was going to be like each time she had to clean herself, she’d risk getting sick in the river by washing there every day.

It had begun calmly. They had both been in the tub, Giotto with his eyes closed as he remained on his side of the tub while Haru was on the other side wishing very much to just disappear. Never had she ever thought that she’d be taking a bath with Primo, the revered leader and creator of the dangerous Vongola Famiglia.

And just as it had begun calmly, it had been about to end calmly when...

“Girl,-.”

Haru’s eyes widened at Attilio’s impromptu appearance in front of her and immediately released a loud ear-piercing shriek, her hands protectively covering herself as she ducked into the water. Unfortunately, her scream caused Giotto to react. He instantly turned around and stood up to confront what had caused her to scream.

Another scream escaped Haru as this time, she covered her eyes. Panic and confusion started to settle in as she was no longer sure if she should cover her eyes or herself. In the end, some form of intelligence managed to make it into her hazed mind and she clenched her eyes shut tightly while hugging herself, keeping herself low and facing one end of the tub so she wouldn’t need to face anyone.

There was a form of awkward silence before a flurry of angry Italian came from Giotto. Attilio’s response sounded aggravated and the two began to bicker when Haru couldn’t take it anymore.

She was naked, the water was starting to get cold, and she just really wanted to get away from these two right now!

“W-What do you want Attilio-san?” she asked loudly.

There was a gruff ‘harumph’ before she heard something being dropped to the ground. Peering over the rim of the bathtub, she saw a small sack on the ground. “Clothes.” She looked at him nonplussed and he rolled his eyes. “Change of clothes for you.”

Oh gods, she wanted to drown herself right now. She had caused a scene all over a change of clothes. Unable to look Attilio in the eye, she nodded fervently. “T-Thank you...”

But by the time she had mustered the courage, he had already stomped away while grumbling incoherently.

She was really grateful towards Attilio for getting her some clothes, but the memory of it all made her want to crawl under a rock and hide there for eternity.

Still... it felt really nice to wear a clean set of clothes. And this nightgown he had gotten her was really comfortable. Surprisingly, Attilio had gotten her several sets of clothing. After having seeing how Giotto seemed to romp around without a lot of spare clothes in the cabin, she had wondered what sort of state this orphanage was in.

But one thing at a time...

Today had left her exhausted.

And with Giotto nuzzling into her nape with his arm wrapped snuggly around her waist, she could only wonder what more the future had in store for her.

  1. Bath - hilarious. That made me laugh :D

I truly enjoyed this chapter. I find that Genesis is one of the best Haru and Giotto fanfiction out there. I've read a few and I truly love this one the most. I think maybe because of how the story is playing out and how the characters are portrayed. Anyways, I loved the chapter.
