ONESHOT
Summary: They were soul mates. They were meant for each other. So why,
why was this happening to them? GiottoHaru/G86
My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things
untrue or some characters OOC and I guess I'll explain some stuff at the end of
the chapter, just so I won't spoil things! XD
I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn because if I
did, there would be a lot more Haru loving!
Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise
and grammatically wise. I don't really have time to re-read and edit things.
I don't know where this idea came from, but it
just happened. And it was fortunate that it did. Because while I was writing
this, I somehow got an idea of how to continue Genesis. Sooo, the next thing I
shall update will be that! 8D Yayness! Though I don't know what you guys will
think about the idea I'm going to do... >_>
Just a Dream
HappyFace1886
Since the day she was first held in his arms,
Haru believed that Tsuna was the one for her.
No matter what other people told her, she truly
believed that he was the one she was meant to be with. That he was the one she
was supposed to spend the rest of her life with.
Because whenever she was around him, it felt so
right.
It felt as though she had found her other half,
the one who was supposed the other part of her soul.
Even if Tsuna only had eyes for Kyoko, Haru
still clung onto that feeling of rightness, that sooner or later the two of
them would be together. And even if in the end, he didn’t feel the same, she
would be content to be by his side as just a mere friend.
Because she truly believed that she loved him.
But how wrong she had been...
“W-Who are you?” Haru demanded, her back pressed
against the tree behind her. She hated how vulnerable she appeared, with her
clothes and hair disheveled while her eyes were red and puffy from crying.
Still, she refused to allow this man to think that she was easy prey. With her
chin held high, she glared at the silent man.
How had he gotten here?
This was the private grounds of the Vongola
Family and even if Haru wasn’t familiar with all of the workers here, the
clothes the man was wearing and the strong glimmer in his eyes made it very
obvious that he was no mere worker.
“You are crying,” he murmured softly. His voice
was so gentle, but it was firm and strong.
Haru wiped her face with the back of her hand,
but kept her gaze on him. “It doesn’t matter. Please leave Haru alone.”
He took a step forward and it took all of Haru’s
will power not to squeak out of fright. “I can’t do that.”
“Stay away!” she yelled, hoping that if she was
to talk louder, someone would hear her and rescue her from this strange man.
Still, he continued to come closer until he was right in front of her. Haru
froze, all her limbs tense and ready to lash out at any moment.
And yet when he raised his hand, Haru felt all
her strength starting to ebb away. There was a soft, but sad smile on his face.
He caressed her cheek delicately, almost as though he was trying to wipe her
tears away, but Haru couldn’t feel anything. Was he even touching her?
“Don’t cry,” he murmured. “You would look
beautiful with a smile.”
Haru gazed at the ocean tinged with red and
orange due to the setting sun. Her expression remained blank while her hands
tightly gripped onto the metal bars. The air was warm and soothing, reminding
her of that time in summer when she had come to these very grounds once more to
visit Tsuna.
She had been eighteen years old back then.
And it was then she had met him again.
“Who are you?” Haru asked with her arms crossed,
looking at him with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.
“You remember me,” he commented, tilting his
head.
“It’s hard to forget a stranger who appeared and
disappeared so abruptly,” Haru commented wryly. “Not to mention, you left a
strong impression on Haru. It’s not every day a strange man appears and tells
her that she looks beautiful with a smile.”
“Then do you believe it’s wise to come looking
for such a strange man?”
“No.”
“Then why have you?”
Haru stared at him, memorizing each and every
feature. Before, she had allowed her emotions to get the better of her and ran
away right after he had stated those words. But now, she wanted to look at this
man, the man who had caught her at her most vulnerable. Never had she allowed
people to see her cry over Tsuna, to see how heartbroken she truly was because
Tsuna chose Kyoko.
But this man was the first...
And she was determined to know more about him.
The man had such beautiful golden hair. It was
wild and untamed, glowing with the beauty of the sun yet possessing what looked
like the softness of silk.
...and those two toned eyes.
They reminded her so much of Tsuna.
Then softly, Haru looked at the ground, suddenly
unable to handle the intensity of this man’s eyes. “Because this feels so
right...”
That was the start of a strange relationship.
They never saw each other every day nor did they even talk as much. It was only
through occasional visits that they were able to even see each other. And never
did he visit her. It was always Haru who came to see him and it was always at
the same spot on the Vongola’s private lands did she meet him.
She never questioned him.
And he never answered her.
Because they both knew that once all the answers
were found, reality would find them.
“When will you tell me your name?” Haru asked,
sitting down beside the tree.
He didn’t answer her, merely watching her with
those intense orange-red eyes of his. Haru felt the blush creep over her cheeks
and she looked away.
“Why do you always come for me?” he inquired and
Haru was half-tempted to give him a taste of his own medicine by not answering,
but the words just somehow tumbled out by themselves.
“Because I want to see you.”
“For what reason?”
“Because...” this times, the words choked in
Haru’s throat. Last time she had been able to easily explain, that just being
with him felt so right, as though she was meant by his side. But this times,
she just couldn’t. Maybe it was because Tsuna was going to get married to Kyoko
soon... maybe it was because she was afraid that she was just using him as a
replacement for Tsuna because they resembled each other.... or maybe...
“You’re afraid,” he noted, seeing her face pale.
“I....”
“What are you afraid of?”
Haru looked away.
She was afraid of just how right this felt.
She was afraid of just how comfortable she felt
around this presence.
As though they had been together all along...
As though they were meant to be....
“It’s not fair,” Haru whispered, feeling the
tears starting to gather in her eyes.
“Please, please tell me your name,” Haru
whispered as she sat on the bare ground, not caring about how the green grass
stained the beautiful bridesmaid dress she was wearing. Her face was downcast
with her knees pulled up to her chest. She didn’t need to look up to know that
he was standing before her. And it didn’t really matter if he was really in
front of her or not. She just couldn’t look at him right now.
“You’re hurting.” He spoke and his voice was so
sweet and strong, holding a sense of security that Haru wanted to wrap herself
around.
Right now, it didn’t matter to her if she was
crazy and this man was just a figment out of her own imagination. He was her
comfort, the one she turned to when she was afraid and felt so alone. In a way,
it scared Haru just how reliant she was on him, but right now it didn’t matter,
she didn’t care.
“I don’t understand,” Haru whispered, almost
angrily. “I love Kyoko-chan and Tsuna-san. She’s like a sister to me and I’m
happy that Tsuna-san chose her because he loves her and if he’s happy, I’m
happy to. But why... why does it hurt so much? Why do I feel so alone? It
shouldn’t be this painful!”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why? Why are you sorry?” Haru demanded. “What
is there for you to be sorry for?”
“You’re hurting.” As he spoke, Haru could almost
see the pain in those normally stoic two-toned eyes. It twisted her heart to
see the pain in his eyes and it drove her crazy because she didn’t know why.
“And I can’t do anything for you...”
With those words spoken, Haru didn’t have the
heart to tell him that she wasn’t sad or hurting because Tsuna married Kyoko.
It was the fact that she wasn’t hurting at all
that had her frightened.
“Life is not fair, child,” a husky voice spoke
from behind.
Haru wiped her tears away roughly and whirled
around. “But why? Why is this happening? What did we do to deserve this?”
“What is your name?” Haru inquired, tucking a
lock of her short hair behind her ear. After Tsuna and Kyoko’s wedding, she had
decided that it was time for a change. Cutting her hair meant she was free and
ready for a new start. She sat on top of a tree branch, giving the mysterious
blonde hair man a bright smile.
Now twenty-four years old, Haru had graduated
from college with a computer science major. It was her dream to become useful
to the Vongola so that she could support her friends, to ensure that she did
her part to make sure that they were safe and secure.
He gave no reply and instead continued with his customary
observation. It became a sort of introduction of sorts between them. Each time
Haru met him, she would ask for his name, but each time, he wouldn’t answer.
And in a way, Haru hoped he never did.
She hoped these visits would continue
unhindered. That she would be able to see him each time she came to the Vongola
grounds.
“Fine,” Haru said with a pout. “Don’t tell me
your name. Then do one thing for me in exchange.”
He made no movements and said nothing, but Haru
continued as though he had given consent.
“Smile for Haru.”
He blinked. “Excuse me?”
“I want to see your smile.”
He continued to give her a look of confusion.
“Because you told me you like my smile,” she
said with a shy blush. “So I want to see your smile.”
“Why?”
“So that I may like yours as well.”
After Haru had finally gotten over Tsuna, an
innocent relationship started to bud between her and her mystery man. She
didn’t understand it either. The full details weren’t fleshed out. But the
feelings she had...
...those feelings that she believed truly
belonged with another hadn’t faded away..
Haru could still remember the feelings she had
back then, the pure sense of giddiness at the prospective of finally having
found her true ‘the one’. That she had found the one she was meant to love and
be loved from in the form of this enigmatic stranger.
How foolish she had been.
How utterly stupid!
“Calm yourself,” Talbot said soothingly, placing
a hand on Haru’s shoulder. She roughly shook her head.
“But I can’t. I just can’t accept this,
Talbot-san!”
“What is your name, stranger-san?” Haru asked
with a smile, grabbing the branch of her customary tree. “Could you at least
give me a clue? Perhaps your origins? No Japanese has such vibrant hair color
like yours, unless you dye it. But your eyes? Hm... they’re like Tsuna-san’s
eyes... are you two related?”
“Haru.” He said her name so smoothly, rolling it
over his tongue casually as though it was something he had said many times
before.
Her face flushed, because never had he once said
her name. It made her heart flutter and she couldn’t help but look at him with
a happy smile. “What is it stranger-san?”
“Please leave.”
She jerked back in surprise. “Hahi?”
“Leave.” He repeated firmly, turning around to
leave. And yet he didn’t move, standing in that position with his back facing
her.
“What... What are you saying?”
“This farce has gone long enough.” He spoke in
that gentle voice that she had come to adore so much. “Leave. And never come
back here.”
“Why? What did I do to make you say this so
suddenly?” Haru demanded, dropping her hand from the tree branch.
“Stop!” he said sharply when she took a step
forward towards him. Haru froze when she heard the steel in his voice. He had
never once raised his voice to her before.
But...
Even if he was angry with her for some reason,
even if he hated her for something she had done, she wanted to know why. She
needed to know why. Whatever was wrong, she would fix it. She would not lose
someone she had come to hold dear so soon. She refused!
And with determination laced in each step, Haru
reached up for his shoulder...
...only to pass right through it...
“Hahi?” the cry was soft and filled with
confusion. She stumbled forward but caught her step before she fell forward.
Haru stumbled backwards and looked at her hand in blank confusion before
looking at him again.
“Leave...” he whispered. “Leave and never come
back. Forget what you saw. Pretend this is just a mere dream that has lasted
far longer than it should have.”
“B-But-!”
“Leave!” he yelled and the ferocity within his
voice caused Haru to tremble. Tears were gathering in her eyes, but she held
them back. She would not cry. This was not the time to cry.
“I don’t understand. Explain all of this to me
please.”
“Leave,” he repeated.
Long ago, if she had been caught in a similar
situation, she would have cried her heart out. Why was this happening? In fact,
what was happening? Was he really just a mere figment of her imagination? But
Haru had lost a loved one before and she’d be damned before she allowed this
man to simply disappear so easily before her.
No, she would never allow that.
He was worth the fight.
And he was stuck with her until the end.
“I’m staying,” she snapped with a ferocity of
her own.
At first the man said nothing and the two
remained in tense silence. Haru with her eyes firmly placed on the man’s back
while she stood in front of the tree, her tree, the one she had always sat on
whenever she came to chat with him. The same tree she had cried out all her tears
for Tsuna in front of this strange man who had been a source of distant
comfort.
And this man with his back facing her, a broad
back –she noticed- that seemed to be weighed down so heavily by a great burden
and yet it stood strong and tall.
A strong back...
...that broke under the weight of her words.
“You foolish woman,” he said harshly, but there
was no malice, only frustrated acceptance. He sounded so tired, as though her
stubbornness had broke something, a wall that he had erected so long ago and
had stood by for far too long. “So very foolish...”
“And what will you do about it, little one?”
Talbot inquired quietly.
“There has to be a way to break this,” she said
resolutely. “Every beginning has an end, and he must have his. Talbot-san,
you’ve lived for so long, there must be something you know about this,
something that will free him and end this!”
“Ha-.”
“Please!” Haru cried out, grabbing onto his
arms.
Oh gods, the tears were starting to return.
Oh gods, oh gods, oh whoever was up there
watching over them all, mocking over their ridiculous fate, please...
Please...
Giotto...
Haru blushed as she murmured the name
absentmindedly. So that was his name.
Giotto...
She smiled and couldn’t stop her giggle.
Giotto...
His name was Giotto!
The two remained still, the elderly man’s
expression unreadable due to his covered eyes while Haru clung to him almost
desperately.
“Little one...”
“Please Talbot-san...” she whispered, her voice
hoarse from yelling and crying. “He’s everything to me...”
She could still see Giotto’s smiling face as he
held her close to him, their bare bodies pressed intimately against each other
as the two remained protected under the light of the full moon.
Only for that night...
It was that night that belonged to them...
But Haru knew she wanted more.
Some may say that she should be happy for having
been able to touch him, at least even once. That she should be glad to have
received at least that much, but that one night, that one single night under
the full moon where he was free for just that one night, free to be touched,
free to be loved, left her only craving for much, much more.
For too long had she been deprived from actually
feeling loved and only giving it, for far too long had she been deprived of
affection while watching longingly as Tsuna blushed and smiled at Kyoko.
Haru loved Giotto.
She loved him with everything she had because he
completed her.
And damn it all if she lost him so easily!
Not like this.
Never like this.
“There is one thing that you can do...” Talbot
said resignedly.
“What is it? Haru will do anything! If it means
Giotto will be set free, I’ll do it!” she cried stubbornly, eyes shining with
hope and determination.
Talbot sighed and gently pulled Haru’s hands
from his arms. He held her hands tenderly, as though being gentle due to the
softness of her hands that heavily contrasted with the callousness of his own.
“Giotto is trapped within this world... in the
form of a spirit, forever tied by the regret he had concerning those of
Vongola.” Talbot murmured delicately. “Cozart Shimon was basically Giotto’s
brother... and the ending that Cozart reached was one Giotto deemed
unacceptable. He truly believed that it was a fault of his own and thus, his
soul has become cursed, trapped by his own emotions and the power of the Vongola.”
“Then why...” Haru said bitterly, almost unable
to say the next words. “Why is he forgetting about me? What does his memory
have to do with anything?”
“He believes that Cozart’s death and what the
Vongola has become is all due to his own actions... and that is something he
cannot accept, even in death. Why should he find happiness if others found
death and agony under what he had so carefully grown with his hands? Giotto
loved Vongola dearly and I am positive that he would be most happy with what
the current Vongola head would do for the future of Vongola... however... the
past is something that cannot merely disappear... and his regret lingers to
this day.” Talbot inhaled deeply, as though readying himself for what he had to
say next. “And that is why he forgets. You... Miura Haru... bring him
happiness. If he continued to remain with you, he would grow to be happy and
that would go against why he is here in the first place.”
“So what must I do? What do I have to do to help
Giotto?” Haru pleaded.
“You must rewrite history.” Talbot replied
hollowly. A cursed method that should never be utilized and yet, a part of
Talbot knew that this was the way. This was meant to be. This child was meant
to save Giotto...
...for the two of them were one heart, one soul,
one eternal love...
“If you follow this way, you will never be able
to return to this world. You will be stuck in that realm until the end of your
days so think carefully, little one. For this is a one way ticket... and there
is no coming back.”
“I’ll do it.” Haru replied decisively, looking
at Talbot with steel in her eyes. “Tell me how to go back in time and I’ll do
it.”
At first, Talbot was stunned by her resolution
but in the end, couldn’t stop the chuckle that escaped. Such fire, such
intensity, no wonder Giotto, despite lingering in his haze of regret, felt
drawn to her. Unable to hide his smile, Talbot tightened his grip on Haru’s
hand in determination.
“Then let me show you the path, little one.”
::owari::
That was awesome.
ReplyDeleteI read Genesis and was disappointed that it wasn't continued but this.. This is really good. Hope you update.. :)
This was really nice, it's good to see another story with this pairing:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're going to update Genisis!
Oh shit.
ReplyDeleteI doubt this will lead to any of those fluffiness. Heck, I found myself so fully mesmerized by the way this story goes. Man, I can't believe that I actually prefer this than Genesis even I am pretty much aware that this will only lead to bitterness! To tell you frankly, I do love dark stories... really do. Really. But sometimes if the updates are pretty... (very) slow, I tend to get irritated at the author. And that is completely biased of me to feel this way which is why I tend to ignore dark plots which has irregular updates. But for some reason, I FIND this as promising as Genesis, or better yet, this is even preferable to read than Genesis!
I love how you portrayed both Haru and Giotto here but at the end of the story, I feel disappointed with Haru's outburst. To go to the world means not returning to the future any longer. And with that decision, is she not going to bid them all farewells? Damn you, Haru! (Woah, I actually curse her... o_O)
Second is that, I doubt Giotto even knows her once she meets him in the past! And that will only add remorse to the story not to mention if by possibility was that Giotto might have a "lover" when she reached there. Heck, why am I stating the future possibilities if I really want to get myself surprise just like Teach me Love?
Err... right, I am rambling too much again.
Anyway, I love this story. The introduction gave me a good impression like most of your stories normally do. And I am glad for that.
I hope to read more of this!
I really loved this, it is sad that you felt you had to leave fanfiction.net but I'm glad you're still writing. It helps Giotto/Haru is my new favourite pairing.
ReplyDelete...This is a very late, but I've only saw this story now, LOL. I've read Genesis a while back and I must say I love it. Will be going back to read it at a later date and will comment this time. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your writing. I don't know, it's simple but somehow it just grasps your attention and draws you in. Something like that.
So I guess this story is kind of like a prequel to Genesis. I'm excited to read more and I know you're busy, but keep up the good work! I'll wait patiently for it because that's the least I could do.
I really do love your Giotto and Hibari and even your Haru. I wasn't a big fan of Haru at first, but when I read Teach Me Love I've come to like it. And, you were also the one who introduced me to 1886 and G86, which I've both come to love. Thank you for that! <3
This is very beautiful! The story was well-written. There is something about your writing that makes it very engaging. I was so into it that the emotions of haru were carried over to me that I got teary-eyed. Moreover, the plot is really unique and creative! Excellent job~! You are an awesome writer!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read your other story as well.
Please make a sequel!:)
ReplyDeleteOh my god, this was beautiful, I love how you write Haru XD
ReplyDeleteA sequel, please! This story is very promising. I would love to see how it would turn out. :) -C
ReplyDeleteI love this story, all the feels <3 Hope there's a sequel to this. Maybe a Long sequel. :)
