Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

Genesis - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Chapter 27

Summary: There was a reason why Reborn got Haru involved with the Mafia. Even if she was useless to them in fights and even if she couldn't provide as much emotional strength as Kyoko, she was vital and without her, there would just be no Vongola. G86/GiottoHaru

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC!

I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically-wise. I don't have time to re-read or edit things.

Genesis: Chapter 27

HappyFace1886

Haru sighed while wiping the sweat from her brow, finally having finished folding all the laundry. Adelina had gone out an hour ago, having been sent out to do another chore since the mountain had dwindled to several piles of clothing. Evening was starting to arrive based on how the ray of lights flitting in through the windows was starting to darken.

She found a nearby stool to sit on and slumped down on it, feeling the muscles on her body ache with the movement. Though she was now a lot stronger due to her treks through the forest, house chores apparently used a different set of muscle. Still, she smiled at how accomplished she felt every time she helped out and how much she learned of the timeline she was currently in.

At the thought of how she was adapting to her surroundings, her smile faded a bit. So many things had happened while she was here that sometimes, it was difficult to remember that she didn’t belong in this era. There were so many things to learn and she was kept busy every day, be it her chores at the village or her worries about Giotto-sama.

Haru rubbed her sore arms subconsciously. She had boldly claimed she and Giotto would leave this place and that she would get Attilio-san’s help, but she still couldn’t say how everything was going to work out. Attilio-san still hadn’t said he would help... then there was the fact that she didn’t even know where to go once they were out of here. Another bold claim –albeit, done in her head this time- was that she would somehow get Giotto with his Famiglia, but how the heck was she going to do that when she still struggled to speak in the language of the country she was in? There were many moments when she was pausing and thinking about what to say and taking directions was even more complicated! It would be difficult for her to survive out there and if anything, she would only make things harder for Giotto-sama...

Her hands stilled and dropped to her lap, her gaze turning towards where the fire was crackling quietly in the corner.

What was the reason why Reborn-chan sent her here? Was it to take Giotto-sama out of this small village and to the place he truly belongs? Why was the book on the Vongola’s history so sparse and in pieces? She hadn’t really thought about it when she first read it, but the book wasn’t really that complete, particularly the areas that concerned Giotto-sama. It was only a few years after the Secondo took over that a more carefully managed record of the Vongola history was prepared.

The other boys would have been more suited for taking this challenge than her. She had no powers! She had no useful skills whatsoever! She-.

Haru wildly shook her head, trying to shoo away any more of the negativity. That kind of thoughts wouldn’t help her out here. Wallowing in self-pity wouldn’t get Giotto-sama out of here. She had no one to rely on to help provide possible answers and right now, Giotto-sama was counting on her! Clenching her fists, she pumped herself up instead.

“If Attilio-san won’t help,” she proclaimed to the empty room, “then Haru will find a way all by herself!”

There was a slight creak from behind her and Haru quickly turned around in surprise. Had Adelina returned already?

A blur of a tall figure was all she saw as it lunged towards her. Something was stuffed into her mouth to silence her screams before a bag was thrown over her head. She was shoved hard onto the ground, her limbs restrained by what felt like the calloused hands of a man who worked all his life on the fields. It was getting harder to breathe, especially because there was something that felt like a cloth clogging her throat. The panic wasn’t helping either, her chest heaving while her body grew frantic for oxygen.

“Careful!” a voice hissed as her vision started to darken. “We need the girl alive for this to work!

Her last thought before she blacked out was of a tall boy with golden hair who was looking at her trusting two-toned eyes, a sweet smile on his face as he held a hand out for her to grab.

Giotto-sama!

Adelina quickly walked through the beaten path, trying to stem her feeling of guilt of having lied to Haru. It wasn’t a lie that Mama had asked for her to handle another set of chores once the laundry pile became of a bearable amount, but what she was doing right now was definitely of her own agenda.

Sorry Haru, she thought, but if you two are leaving, I want to... I need...

She brusquely shook the rest of her thoughts away. Her feet automatically took her to the flower field she and Giotto always played in before the incident occurred. To her surprise, she saw Giotto and Michael sitting right before her, Michael looking attentively while the golden blonde haired boy spoke quietly with a grave look on his face. Unwittingly, she leaped behind a nearby tree, her hand clutching tightly against her chest.

What was Michael doing there? And what were the two even talking about?

Her heart felt as though it was going to leap out of her chest, and not because she saw Michael there. It was like before when the sight of Giotto had caused all those horrible, repressed memories to seep into her mind. Adelina’s breathing grew harsher while she slumped forward, struggling to control her breathing.

This was neither the time nor the place. She wasn’t here to bring bad memories for Giotto, just as she knew that Giotto would have never wanted to be the cause of her pain. If he knew she was here, he’d immediately remove himself from the vicinity in order to cause her further harm. The thought only made her chest tighten further.

No, that’s not what she wanted!

That’s not why she came out here in the first place!

Adelina?” a concerned voice called out to her and she turned her head to see Michael a few steps away. He looked as though he was on the verge of running, obviously having noticed how pale she was and how her shoulders were shaking. Behind him was Giotto, who stood where they had originally been sitting, those solemn eyes watching with a heaviness that made her want to cry.

No!

Michael, who had reached her by now, placed a hand on her shoulder and kneeled before her so that they were eye-level to each other. She hadn’t realized just how hunched over she was until now. “Adelina,” he murmured this time in a quieter voice, the distress obvious in his voice. “Adelina, what’s wrong?

Giotto met her eyes before he abruptly looked away, turning back towards the forest in order to leave the area. Adelina’s breathing grew harsher and she clutched onto Michael’s sleeve, her hand reaching out towards where Giotto was walking away.

Wait...” she struggled to speak, but she felt as though there was someone choking her from behind. Her throat felt constricted, tighten to the point that she could only croak her words out. “Wait...

Was this how things would always play out in her life? Would she just stand idly by, weak and helpless, while the people she cared for walked out of her life? If Giotto and Haru were going to leave soon, this might be her last opportunity!

Adelina,” Michael had wrapped his arms around her shoulders right now, giving furtive glances between her and Giotto. He grabbed onto her outstretch hand and tugged at it gently in an attempt to pull it down. “It’s okay Adelina, there’s no need for you to-.

No,” she shook her head, tears leaking from the corner of her eyes.

Giotto’s back looked so far away now...

Michael sighed and held her close, running his hand through her hair while Adelina sobbed pitifully into his shirt.

The village farmer held the small brown haired girl gingerly in his arms. The bag had been removed along with her cloth. Judging by how her chest was rising up and down slowly, she was breathing properly as well. He sighed in relief again, even though they had made sure that she was still alive before carrying her out of the house.

The village he had grown up in had always been small and mostly isolated, but even they had heard of stories of people across the sea. The village wasn’t anything like the cities and were a lot more old fashion and traditional, but they were still involved with trade and received news at least on a weekly basis whenever some of the men went off to trade and sell goods.

He and the other villagers knew the girl was Oriental. How she ended up in this part of the world, no one knew. However, the fact that she was able to so easily tame the beast...

Was this girl a demon as well?

A shudder went down his spine, but the man clung onto the rationale that that couldn’t be true. This girl was an earnest, hard worker. He had seen the way she’d struggle to learn and how she’d try to get along with everyone. Hell, he had even seen her fight with some people who disagreed with her, sputtering with her broken Italian with passion raging through her eyes. If she was some sort of monster, she could have easily cast a spell and enchanted everyone into loving her and doing her bidding... just like the blonde beast who had used his power in order to captivate everyone.

No, this girl was an innocent.

And this was for the greater good.

He glanced at his accomplice and felt the grim air surrounding him as well. The two had not shared a word since they left the cabin, silently making their trek up the hill to where the house of the elders was. The man shifted the girl higher when he felt her slipping from his grasp.

“We’re doing the right thing, right?”

“...of course we are.”

No other words were exchanged as they finally reached the wooden building. He half expected there to be a thick menacing fog surrounding it or maybe even a raging fire of black magic due to the possibility that their treachery was discovered. He knew about the obvious fondness the demon had for this girl. Everyone in the village knew about it...

There was a timid knock from his accomplice on the door before he reached down to open it, the rusted hinge squealing ominously in protest for the abuse.

Standing in the center of the room surrounded by the other men of the village and the elders was a tall man with blonde hair. Casted over his shoulders was the black cloak of the clergy, which swayed as he turned his head, his green eyes taking in the sight of the two men entering the room.

The two kidnappers bowed their head and murmured reverently. “We have done as you have ordered, honored Father.

  1. Can I just say that this is my favorite multichapter you have? Not only did you make me ship GiottoxHaru, you made me fall in love this ship (enough to put it in my top 3). *A*

I love all of your writings, really. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. I even read those ships that I would rarely want to read (i.e., ships that I cringe at the very thought of it). You are an amazing writer. I've been following your blog for a while now (years, really), and wow. :D

This fandom is quite a low-profile now, and it's really a miracle that you're still in this fandom. You made me believe that miracles can really happen. Alright, that's too much drama now. :)))

But seriously, I love how you word out your stories. :> Anyway, that's it.

Good luck with life and everything else in between. :D

    1. Aww, thank you. You're too kind. :) Though honestly speaking, hearing stuff like this makes me really happy! And yes, it's true that the fandom is slowly fading away since the series ended. This just means we fans need to stick together even more! Thank you for the lovely review!

    1. Yes! I've updated! And hopefully I'll update something every week! Haha, seeing as though I'll be updating once a week, we'll see about the chapters being longer. Most of the time, it depends on what's going on in the chapters. :) I would like to write longer chapters though! Hopefully that'll happen someday.

      Thanks for leaving a review!

  5. I AM SO HAPPY! Thank you for continuing this! I yelled murder when I realized Haru was getting kidnapped. They are so going to regret that.

Out of curiosity, did you have a specific region in Italy in mind when you set this? It'd be cool to know where this teeny village is located and how far it is from the more populated areas.

It's also cool if you didn't have one in mind haha

    1. Haha... I wish I had a specific region. Back when I first started writing this, I tried researching a bit, but found it impossible to decide everything back then. My hope was that while I'm writing, I'll be able to get a firmer idea on where they are. This was especially because I plan on this story being more slow paced than other fanfics. -__-;; I hope that makes sense.

      Thanks for the review!
