Summary: It had been a mistake. A drunken kiss
that seemed to silence the nightmares of his past. She was the only one who
could give him peace... the only one who could provide the warmth and support
to help him get through this pain. 5986 / GokuderaxHaru WARNING:

Her low
moans filled the room, overcoming the darkness and blood that haunted his mind.
His hands greedily cupped her soft breasts from behind her, rolling the soft
mounds under the palm of his hand. The roughness of his palms made her gasp and
toss her head back until she was resting it on his bare shoulder.
“Gokudera,”
she cried out huskily next to his ear and he kissed her bare shoulder.
Their
clothes were strewn all over the expensive hotel suite that had been booked
under his false name. But this wasn’t a day for just pleasure.
No, he
had been assigned a mission in order protect a section of London that was under
the protection of the Vongola and to discover more about the organization that
had assassinated the Decimo.
The
memory of the fact that his boss was no longer with him made his shoulders
heavy and he clung to Haru, entering inside of her with a fierceness that made
her scream, her back arching beautifully while her hands went up, her fingers
entangling with his hair.
The
tightness of her core, the feel of her supple skin, and the sweet smell she
gave off whenever he held her made him forget... the shadows of the past few
months disappearing with each thrust of his hips.
He
wanted to forget.
He
needed to forget.
And Haru
was the only one who could make him forget.
“Gokudera,” Haru murmured gently, her hands
reaching out to touch his shoulders. The smell of alcohol was so strong that it
was no wonder that he was slumped against the bar, his body completely
immobile.
How long had he been here?
It was so late at night that even the
bartender was gone. She had received a call, asking her to pick him up before he
killed himself from alcohol poisoning
There was an uncommitted response from him
and Haru sighed solemnly.
Tsuna-san’s death had hit everyone hard, but
it had most likely hit Gokudera the hardest. He had been the closest to
Tsuna-san, after all, and the one who followed him no matter how dangerous the
path.
But this wasn’t the way to grieve!
“C’mon Gokudera, let’s get you to bed.” She
urged, shaking him gently to at least rouse his consciousness.
“He’s gone,” he slurred out quietly.
“Gokudera-.”
“He’s gone and I couldn’t do a damn thing!”
he yelled and threw the glass tumbler to the wall of lined bottles of alcohol.
Many of the bottles shattered and added to the strong stench of alcohol in the
room, making her nose burn. Haru had never really liked alcohol and seeing
Gokudera like this only affirmed her dislike.
“Gokudera, please,” she reached out, but he shook
her away.
His face was flushed, but not only because
of the alcohol. There were tears in his eyes, some of them having trailed down
his face. “What... What kind of right hand am I? I always said I’ll be the best
right hand there ever was... that I’ll always protect the Decimo and be by his
side. But when the time comes, I’m completely useless.”
“Don’t say that!” Haru yelled, almost
tearing up herself. Gods, she hated seeing him like this. What happened to the
snarky jerk that would always shout insults left and right to her? “You’re not
useless! No one could have seen this coming, Gokudera! Don’t blame yourself!”
“By his side,” he said in a haunted voice,
not even hearing a word she was saying. It would seem as though for the past
few hours, those were thoughts that had ran his mind. There was an empty
determinedness in his eyes that made Haru tremble. “I promised... to be by his side.”
Her eyes widened at the implications his
words were making and before he could do anything drastic, Haru ran and used
all her strength to grab him and shove him hard against the bar table.
“Don’t do this to me, Gokudera,” she snapped
angrily, the tears forming in her eyes. “You’re not the only one who lost
someone important, damn it!”
She was sniffling and while keeping one hand
on his chest, she reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes. Haru had tried to
be strong since everyone’s spirits were down, but this was too much.
...she didn’t want to lose another precious
person...
A hand reached out and cupped her cheek,
causing her to pause and look in surprise at Gokudera.
The blank look was gone from his eyes and
the grief had returned. His thumb wiped away the tear and it took all her
willpower to not cling to him, to cry her eyes out to let out the heaviness
that had been clinging to her heart the moment she had been told that Tsuna-san
was gone...
Subconsciously she seemed to move closer...
or was it because his hand seemed to be gently tugging her forward?
Whatever the reason was, she soon found her
lips pressed gently against his.
The taste of alcohol was strong on his lips,
but the sting of it disappeared when Gokudera wrapped an arm around her waist
and pulled her even closer.
A mistake.
That had
been a mistake.
That was
what Gokudera had believed.
Haru was
too pure for the dark world he lived in. Everyone knew that, like Kyoko-chan,
Haru would probably never know about the true dangers they lived through. She
was no fighter and shouldn’t be involved with the mafia at all.
But
after having a taste, he couldn’t stop.
Was it the alcohol that moved him like this?
Or was it because it inhibited his
self-control and let his true feelings out?
After the night he kissed her, he had
avoided her like the plague. How stupid of him to take advantage of her like
that. And how stupid of her for letting him.
But soon, he found himself drowning away his
misery once more. Every night, he still had nightmares of the time he had been
informed about the Decimo’s demise... but that one night he kissed Haru, all
the voices had been silent.
That silence, how he craved it.
And that was why he ended up in front of her
doorstep of her apartment, drunk on his feet, but having somehow made it to her
place.
The moment Haru opened the door, the moment
her eyes widened slightly in recognition, he lunged for her and pressed his
lips clumsily against hers. The widened eyes seemed to open even more as he
pressed her against the wall.
His mouth hungrily sought hers, imploring
her lips to part for him as he ran his tongue on the seams of her lips. She
willingly opened them, letting his tongue caress her own. Her hands clutched
onto his shoulder and the front of his shirt while his hand grasped her tiny
waist, the other trailing down her side until it reached her leg. His hand
grabbed her thigh, pulling it upward so that he could press himself closer to
her.
Haru broke the kiss, her face completely
flushed as she panted. The feel of his arousal brushing against her made her
tremble and it was just so damn close because she was wearing a skirt, a fact
Gokudera seemed to notice as he pushed the edges of her skirt higher, his palm
gently grasping her smooth thigh.
“Gokudera,” she breathed out as he nuzzled
into her neck, laving the tender skin while leaving gentle bites that made her
shudder.
Another
mistake.
It had
to be.
He had
taken advantage of her again.
And that
time, he had done much more than a simple kiss.
Their fingers were knitted together and he
held them down on the sides of her face, watching with glowing eyes at the
sight of her bare body before him. Her face was completely red and there was a
look of embarrassment in her eyes, her gaze shifting away so that she wouldn’t
have to look at him, his body also completely bare for her eyes to rove over.
Yes, this was what he wanted.
To embrace her, to hold her tight.
To lose himself within her warm hold, to
silence the voices that refused to leave him.
Whenever he was with her, they all seemed to
disappear and leave him alone.
“Haru,”
he whispered into her ear, loving the way she cried out his name like a mantra
with each thrust he made. She was so wet, dripping down from their conjoined
sexes and staining the bed. And the way she clenched him so tightly made him
grit his teeth, trying his best to retain his self-control.
After
that one incident, it had become a routine for him to always approach her place
at night. They never really talked about it, but each time he would return to
her place and each time she would willingly let him in. And then for hours he
would take her, their bodies becoming one, before the early morning came and he
slipped out quietly while she was still asleep.
It was
impossible to place these feelings into words.
Were
they making loving?
Or were
they simply fucking each other raw in order to forget the past?
“So how’s Haru doing?” Yamamoto inquired,
joining Gokudera in a rare occasion of drinking at the bar. Unlike Gokudera,
Yamamoto rarely drank. If he did, it was maybe just one or two at a party.
Gokudera’s head snapped towards Yamamoto,
his eyes narrowing at the question.
He knew.
The baseball idiot knew.
“She’s fine,” he said through gritted teeth.
Yamamoto nodded, taking a sip of his ordered
Black Hawk. “That’s good.”
There was no reply from Gokudera and silence
reined between the two. However, while Yamamoto appeared calm, Gokudera was
fidgeting, tapping his fingers on the bar table. This scene lasted for quite a
while and just when Gokudera thought he was going to explode from the silence,
Yamamoto spoke.
“You know, I’ve always been fond of Haru.”
Yamamoto said honestly, swirling the red liquid in his glass. Gokudera glowered
at Yamamoto, but the black haired man didn’t seem to notice, his focus on his
drink. “She’s really funny... and kind.”
The sharpness of the last word made Gokudera
flinch and look away.
Yes, he knew she was kind.
“But even her kindness has a limit.”
Gokudera downed his Sicilian Kiss and
savored the burning sensation that ran through his body. He slammed the glass
onto the table. “What are you trying to say?”
“Our boss is gone,” Yamamoto said flatly and
Gokudera’s fingers tightened around the tumbler. “Accept it.”
“What are you talking about?” the silver
haired boy snarled. “I know that.”
“You know it, but you still haven’t come to
term with it.” Yamamoto said, taking another sip. The ice clinked together and
he smiled wryly, looking so tired. It was the complete opposite of the carefree
persona he had shown when they were younger.
Gokudera would have snapped at him if it
wasn’t for the fact that he knew Yamamoto understood what he was going through.
While it was true that Yamamoto understood his pain because they had both lost
the Decimo, Yamamoto had lost another in this crazy war.
“Take care of her, Gokudera,” Yamamoto said,
gently lowering his glass onto the table.
Green eyes looked at him in surprise. “I thought
you were here to stop me... t-that I was using her or something.”
There was an amused chuckle from Yamamoto. “Do
you really think Haru would let a person she didn’t love touch her?”
“But-.”
“Just stop taking her along with your
missions.” Yamamoto said before the light in his eyes dimmed. “We’ve lost
enough people already.”
“Stupid
woman,” Gokudera murmured, running the back of his fingers against her face as
she slumbered in his bed. He sat beside her and watched as she slept, curled up
into a ball. “I told you to stay away from my mission locations.”
But no,
she had come boldly to his room, claiming that it was just a coincidence since
her science conference was taking place in the hotel ballroom.
He gazed
at his hand, the one that held the lit cigarette.
The
nightmares didn’t disappear, but they had reduced drastically in number.
He no
longer needed alcohol to drown it all out.
And it
was all because of this stubborn woman.
Gokudera
extinguished the lit cigarette, rubbing it into the ash tray before reaching
out to caress Haru’s face. She smiled softly, nuzzling into the offered hand
like a content kitten who had found the warmth it had been seeking.
Did he
love her?
The mere
implication in just thought form made his face turn red a little and he pulled
away, running a hand through his matted hair. He wasn’t the type who knew how
to properly display his feelings, especially one as intimate as this.
He shook
his head.
No. This
was no time for him to be embarrassed.
Haru had
given him so much of her. He had no right to hide anything.
So if
one did question him about their relationship, then yes, he did love her.
He gazed
down at where she laid, his eyes softening at her vulnerable form sleeping so
trustingly beside him. Lying down slowly so that she wouldn’t wake up, he
pulled her into his arms so that he was now cuddling her against him.
No
longer would he allow her to spend a night all alone after they had made love.
Gokudera
knew that no matter how hard he tried, he would never be able to get the words
out.
But he
knew enough to know the truth.
He loved
her.
And he’d
protect her with his life if needed.
Because
she was precious to him and he’d be damn if he lost her as well.

AU: Well
this turned out darker than expected, but I hope it’s good enough for the fans.

Thank you for this! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that they were not out of character.
:D anytime! I'm glad you say that they're not OOC. I was trying my best to make it seem realistic.
DeleteNow I never read Gokudera/Haru stories but I decided to give this a try cause you wrote it.
ReplyDeleteI actually liked it(can't believe I'm saying that... I'm not a fan of Gokudera). I liked how Yama says that Haru wouldn't give herself to someone she doesn't she doesn't love and I thought that's so Haru.
Thanks for posting!
8D I was waiting for your review. Been a while, hasn't it?
DeleteI'm really happy tha you enjoyed it even if you don't prefer the pairing. I'm okay with this couple, but I'm also not extremely fond of it. But it's also fun writing for various types of pairings. :)
