Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

Genesis - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Chapter 08

Summary: There was a reason why Reborn got Haru involved with the Mafia. Even if she was useless to them in fights and even if she couldn't provide as much emotional strength as Kyoko, she was vital and without her, there would just be no Vongola. G86/GiottoHaru

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC!

I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically-wise. I don't have time to re-read or edit things.

Genesis: Chapter 08

HappyFace1886

“Here Haru, try this too!” Giotto said, handing her the yellow dress. His eyes were glowing with such delight that Haru couldn’t bear to turn him down. With an amused smile, she took the dress. It was a simple one piece with floral patterns near the hem. The end of it came to her knees and there were no sleeves.

Haru knew better than to use the clothing Attilio had given her to judge what era she was exactly in. The clothes were obviously donated and were most likely out of fashion. She didn’t mind though. Be it plain or overly flamboyant, she trusted her sewing skills enough to mend anything that looked overly outrageous. Fortunately, all of them looked relatively normal.

Still, who would’ve thought that the one who would grow up to be the revered and proud Vongola Primo would have such an interest in dressing her up?

“Giotto-sama, what are you doing?” Haru inquired, looking confused at how the blonde haired boy was staring with such intense focus at the bag of clothes Attilio had given her.

“Many different outfits,” he remarked with a frown.

Haru paused, trying to figure out what he meant by this other than the obvious. It was true that Attilio and Giotto didn’t have much variety when it came to their own clothing. For the two of them, their clothes were mostly focused on simple, comfortable ones. It was actually quite kind of Attilio to provide her with so many different types of attires, especially since she didn’t have anyone to show them to and most of them got ripped or dirty because of how she’d venture out into the forest with Giotto.

“It’s different for girls,” Haru explained patiently, dragging the bag until it was between the two of them. “Girls need many clothes to look pretty.”

He tilted his head, unable to process her explanation. “But Haru is already pretty.”

She couldn’t stop the blush and ended up shyly looking at the bag, trying not to let his words affect her too much. He was just being innocent and silly again, spouting words with no deeper meaning in them. “T-Thank you... B-But not everyone would agree so girls use things like clothes to make themselves look prettier.”

“Why?” he inquired and Haru smiled wryly at him.

“Well,” she began slowly. During her time here so far, she had come to terms that Giotto was very innocent about certain aspects of society. It was another thing she had noted, how often he would spend time in the forest. So far, she had never seen him enter town. The only one to do so was Attilio. “Sometimes it’s because it helps us feel good. Then there’s how everyone will judge us if we’re not dress nicely. And... I guess... one of the more common reasons would be because we want to find a boyfriend.”

He knitted his eyebrows, looking at her in pure curiosity. “Boyfriend? A friend that’s a boy? Am I Haru’s boyfriend?”

She almost choked on her own saliva.

Okay, the topic was heading towards a direction where it could go very drastically wrong! Gods, please, please, please let Giotto at least know what the birds-and-bees was! Though remembering their initial bath incident, she had no idea of knowing what was going on in his head. He could very much know and not care or didn’t know anything at all.

“Er.. Boyfriend is a potential husband?” she supplied weakly, her courage faltering at his eager-to-learn eyes. “S-Sometimes, girls dress up in order to impress a boy they like... hoping that the boy will like what they wear so that he’ll choose them as a bride.”

Giotto became quiet, staring at the array of clothes thoughtfully. He then pulled out the blue one Haru had worn the other day, running his hand through the material before he placed it neatly to the side. His eyes then lit up as he pulled out another dress, a light pink one with small white spots on it. “Haru, try this!”

“Hahi?” she took the dress from him in bemusement.

“Please try, Haru.” He asked again with a charming smile. “I want to see you in it.”

And that was what had led to their little fashion show.

Giotto was normally antsy to be outside, to surround himself with the sunlight and sounds of nature. Today, however, he seemed content with being inside and watching her in various different dresses. Sometimes a huge grin would appear on his face, indicating he particularly liked that outfit, and other times there would be a simple cheerful smile that looked very content.

It always amazed Haru whenever she saw Giotto like this. And try as she might not to do so, she always found herself comparing him to the man he will become. He was written in the books to be kind, something he was even now, but that he was distant from others, keeping his space, and rarely showing a smiling face.

Yet here she was, constantly showered by what was said to be a rare occurrence.

She came out wearing the last dress of the pile, a pure white one that seemed to cover her form quite modestly. It came all the way down to her ankles and was sleeveless. Little white beads decorated the dress here and there, giving her a formal appearance that one normally had during fancy parties.

“What do you think?” she asked, giving him a playful twirl.

The look on Giotto’s face was unreadable as he got up from the bed where he had been watching the entire time. The house that they resided in had two rooms. The only bedroom was Attilios’ while she and Giotto shared the bed in the living room area right next to the kitchen. The two weren’t allowed in Attilio’s room and so, Haru had created a curtain made out of unused blankets to change clothes from behind.

Haru waited, wondering what sort of reaction he’d give her this time as he circled her once. He was so unpredictable, so unlike how she’d imagine, that she was always taken by surprise by whatever he did.

“Haru is very beautiful.” Giotto said as he stopped in front of her and this time, unlike the normally huge bright grins he’d give her, this smile was soft and gentle. “I like it.”

She ducked her to avoid looking at his piercing two-toned eyes, her hands nervously tugging at the strands of hair on the back of her neck. “Thank you.”

Her heart was pounding in her chest. The way he was looking at her was different from all the times he had looked at her before. Haru had seen his looks of amusement, contentment, and joy. So what was this intense stare that seemed to be trying to swallow her whole?

“I-I should change back,” she rushed so that she wouldn’t have to focus on him. His presence was so strong and noticeable that it was turning her brain to mush. Haru was about to pick up the dress she had been originally wearing when Giotto handed her the yellow dress he had given her before. “Hahi?”

“Wear this one,” he said eagerly, placing the neatly folded dress in her hand.

Haru looked at him in confusion. In her other hand was the light beige dress she had been originally wearing. She glanced at the beige one and then at the yellow one. “What-.”

“I like this one better,” he said with a carefree grin, the infectious one that always had her smiling in the end as well.

She blinked dubiously before taking the dress from him. “Okay.”

“I’ll wait outside!” he chirped happily before heading out the door.

Haru looked at where he had disappeared off to and then the dress he had handed her.

What was that about?

AN: Gah, as I write Genesis, I realized why each chapter is so short! They're still getting to know each other so there's not much to write! I guess that's the price when going the slow route... -w- at least I'm updating once a week! And I finally know what direction I'm going with this!

Chapter 07                                 Chapter 09

I wish Giotto was my boyfriend..
Though I am curious as to what the 10th generation's reaction to Haru's missing?
What actually happened to the 10th generation when they noticed HAru missing... If they in fact noticed her missing that is...
