Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

Curiosity Killed the Cat - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 1886

Summary: AU; A spy, a traitor... none of that mattered to him. She had just proven herself to be a worthy carnivore he needed to test his skills against... but perhaps he was mistaken in just how exactly he wanted to bite her dead. HibarixHaru / 1886

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC!

I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically-wise. I don't have time to re-read or edit things.

Note: Erm.... I managed to post something in the end xD

Curiosity Killed the Cat

HappyFace1886

“Don’t you dare do anything, you damn Prefect!” the harsh snarl of Storm Guardian’s voice crackled unpleasantly through the earpiece. Though it had been years since he had been the official Prefect of Namimori Junior High or any academic establishment of Namimori, old habits die hard. Hibari ignored the idiot’s angry blubbering in favor of turning his attention towards the slim figure before him. The room was encased in darkness due to the moonless night, but his honed eyes easily made out the woman before him.

Brown hair tied into a neat high pony tail with a soft pink ribbon and honey brown eyes that held a warning that spoke of how she wouldn’t hesitate to shoot the gun pointed at him. She wore black slacks that were easy to move in along with a simple white button up shirt complimented by a loose black jacket. Typical clothing worn by the high positioned detectives of the Namimori Police Force.

“We’ll be there shortly,” this time it was the Rain Guardian who spoke up. Unlike Gokudera’s guttural shouts, Yamamoto sounded eerily calm, holding a razor sharp edge that warned Hibari that he wasn’t to do anything. This was their prey to deal with.

Reflexively, the Cloud Guardian adjusted his grip on his tonfas.

“Hibari Kyoya,” the softness of her voice belied the cold gleam of her brown eyes. It was too soft. Too sweet. He had heard enough feminine voices belonging to enemies to know that gender had no play when it came to the art of combat. However, the way this woman spoke was much too gentle to belong to someone who was able to beat the future Decimo of the Vongola to an inch of his life.

“...it was... it was her,” Gokudera whispered from against the wall, having slumped onto the ground when his knees could no longer hold him up. “I... I saw her hold Decimo by the collar, h-holding him up like he was some sort of... fucking ragged doll! No... No, it was probably an illusion. Right? Baseball head, we were just seeing things, right? There’s no way that stupid woman could have... could have...”

The words trailed off when Yamamoto provided no reprieve. Instead, the taller boy simply stared grimly at the operating room where the Decimo currently was being worked on by the doctors. The other Guardians had been summoned, but while both Gokudera and Ryohei appeared distraught by the turn of events, Mukuro and Hibari looked mostly bored.

“A spy,” Reborn spoke up. All eyes turned to the young boy, the infant having grown several years older since the lifting of the Arcobaleno curse. He gripped the edge of his trademark fedora, his head tilted low so that none could see the expression on his face. “Apparently it had gone under the Vongola’s radar.”

“A spy for whom?” Yamamoto inquired quietly, but the ruggedness of his voice belied his true emotions. “There aren’t many mafia organizations out there who would want to make an enemy of us and even if she was.... a spy, she’s no assassin. She didn’t... kill Tsuna, even though she had a chance.”

For years he had rejected his role as the Rain Guardian of the Vongola. He had his own dreams and being considered a fighter for the mafia sounded so silly in his ears. Not to mention, after everything they’d been through, their titles seemed superficial at most. It seemed like a silent agreement... they would forever be tied by the Vongola, but the expected traditions seemed unlikely due to the peace they were able to forge during their adolescent years.

“That’s because she’s not from the mafia,” all eyes turned to the man who had entered into the hallway. There were more wrinkles on his face from before, but no one could deny the power that emanated from him. Sawada Iemitsu walked towards them with a grimness they hadn’t seen since the chaotic wars of the past.

“Then what exactly is she?” Mukuro inquired, sounding a bit bored by the development.

“NPA.” Reborn supplied and Gokudera gawked at them.

“The police?” The National Police Agency, to be exact.

“She was an insider who slipped in under our radar because she went by her father’s name.” Iemitsu continued, rubbing the back of his neck. When he’d heard what happened to his son and then the information that followed, he knew it was going to be a long night. “Miura Haru’s mother is Miura Tomiko... or should I say Akiyama Tomiko.”

The older man sighed when he was greeted by empty stares.

“Akiyama Tomiko is the present Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police Department and one hell of a woman. She’s known for cracking down on any and all illegal activities, before and after they’ve been committed. Her reputation precedes her... she has her foot in international incidents as well and has connections both within the U.S. and European Union.”

“But what does that have to do with Haru?” Yamamoto demanded, for once losing his infamous nonchalance. He couldn’t erase from his mind the sight of Haru tilting her head towards them, trails of blood –Tsuna’s blood!- staining her pale cheeks. No matter how ugly or crazy things got, she had been the one constant in the world, the one who’d always welcome them with open arms in the midst of all the violence. “So what if she’s related to the Superintendent General? Why did-How is she a spy?”

“If you knew of Akiyama Tomiko,” Reborn murmured, “then you’d know that it would not be beneath her to use her own child to become a tool she can use. After the deaths of the previous heirs to the Vongola, she’d most likely heard through her connections that I was recruited to train Tsuna to become worthy of that title... how convenient must it have been for her to have her daughter situated so nearby the future Vongola leader.”

“Okay, but why now? If Haru’s some crazy trained spy, why did they suddenly tell her to act now? It doesn’t make sense!”

“It makes every bit of sense,” Iemitsu snapped. It was impossible to rein in his temper, especially since it was his own son fighting for his life in the operating room. This was different from their past bouts. Tsuna was a man now, but it didn’t mean anything at the present moment because the last thing he’d seen before losing consciousness was a person he considered a good friend, someone he believed was wholeheartedly good and innocent, beating the ever loving shit out of him.

That level of agony would be enough to break even the strongest man.

“Akiyama Tomiko wants Haru to return to her for one thing only,” Reborn continued where Iemitsu couldn’t, easily maintaining his infamous composure, “and it’s in preparation for war.”

“War?” Hibari spoke softly, testing out the word that seemed to so smoothly roll off the tip of his tongue.

“Haru was ordered to attack Tsuna... if he fought back, it’d have easily provided the police with the incentive to send out an arrest warrant... if he didn’t fight back, which he didn’t, Haru was ordered to beat him until he was near dead.” Reborn gazed at the boys... no, men before him with the coldness that could only belong to an assassin of his caliber. “Regardless, the outcome would be the same. Using Haru, Akiyama Tomiko has now declared war on Vongola and all those who’d sworn loyalty to the Vongola name.”

“Say something, you damn Prefect!” Gokudera snapped and the volume of his voice tempted Hibari to rip the earpiece off. It was obvious that the Storm and Rain Guardians were too emotionally invested in this situation... not that it mattered to him.

Hibari lowered his body, readying himself for her advancement. Since the day he’d heard that she’d been able to defeat the pathetic herbivore, he’d been waiting for the opportunity to sample her skills. His eyes narrowed and the tonfa tilted slightly, moving in time to deflect the bullet that would have otherwise hit him by the shoulder.

“Don’t move,” Haru held onto the smoking gun, easily handling the recoil of the powerful weapon with one hand alone. A soft glint of metal briefly turned Hibari’s gaze to the throwing knives held by her other hand. Based on both weapons, long-range expert? “I know your weapons inside and out. There’s no way you can reach me before any of mine do... so don’t move.”

“You may know my weapons,” Hibari spoke nonchalantly, “but do you understand me as well?”

Without warning, he lunged for her. As if he’d worry about something as insignificant as bullets. Anything she threw at him, he’d simply evade and repel. If he got hit, no mere injury would be enough to stop him. His tonfas were more than enough for something as pathetic as a gun.

In mere seconds, he was upon her. His tonfas were raised up and high, but the minute he swung down, they were blocked by what looked like brass knuckles. Hibari narrowed his eyes. No, they were trench knives modified to have brass knuckles attached to them. He immediately leaped away when Haru threw his tonfas upward and swung her arms, the sharpened edge of her knives aimed for his throat.

Skidding backwards, Hibari felt the droplets of blood trailing down from the cut she’d made on his jaw line. So sleek and so fast. The moment she’d seen him run, she’d abandoned her gun and knives in favor of a close-ranged weapon.

How wise of her. Long-ranged weapons did nothing to him. She had a better chance of survival if she entered his domain.

“Hibari, what’s the situation?” Yamamoto’s voice crackled in his ears, but was ignored once more. Instead, Hibari leaned back onto the balls of his feet, clicking the button on his tonfas to release the ball and chains from the tip of his weapons.

“They’re coming for you,” Hibari remarked, casually spinning the spiked chains. “They’ll be here ten minutes from now.”

Haru smiled warily. It sounded as though Hibari was warning her of the other Guardians arrival, but in reality, he was simply asking her if she could defeat him in less than ten minutes. No, asking was not in Hibari’s nature.

This was a challenge.

But not one she’d time to waste on.

“Run and I will follow,” he warned before she could make a move. Haru paused in her movements and then looked up at him with a somber smile on her face. It was enough to make Hibari pause, wondering if this was a trick of hers. Instead, the corners of her eyes crinkled as her smile widened.

“Is that a promise?”

The question was unexpected and during the few seconds it took for him to process the question, Hibari’s guard was lowered. That was all the time Haru needed to kick her discarded throwing knives at him. He easily swatted them to the side with the chains on his tonfas, but during that moment, Haru shortened the distance between them.

Ridiculous, he thought as he moved the tonfas to hit her by the side of her temple... when something hard and strong ricocheted them away. Hibari’s eyes narrowed and internally cursed. There was a confident smile on her face, a smoking gun in her hand, before she spun and hit the butt of her gun onto the side of his head. It was enough to make him stagger backwards, hitting the wall with blood dribbling down his face.

In the span of the few seconds he took to recover and look up, she was gone.

The little minx.

Not to mention, a ridiculously fast.

Hibari gritted his teeth as he pushed himself off the wall. He turned his head when he heard the door to the room burst opening, Yamamoto and Gokudera rushing inside with their weapons ablaze.

“Where is she?” Gokudera demanded.

“Gone,” Yamamoto answered instead, eyeing the blood on Hibari’s face and the windows thrown open. He sheathed his sword, a hard glare in his eyes. “Why did you engage her? I told you-.”

The rest of his words were lost as Hibari leaped out of the window.

It would be months until their next encounter. Hibari would never forget the humiliation and anger from when he’d realized that he’d allowed her to escape. Even after he had given chase, he hadn’t found hair or hide of the damn minx. No words could describe the lethal predatory aura that had surrounded him when he’d heard that the Varia actually had gotten a shot at her a few weeks after he’d lost track of her.

She was his target. His prey.

No one else was allowed to touch her.

The moment he’d gotten word from one of his contacts of her possibly appearing in Belgium, he’d arrived there without bothering to inform the other Guardians. They’d gotten in his way during the previous bout, but not this time.

During his adolescent years, he would have rushed head first the moment he found his target. But he’d matured to the point of seeing the folly of such hot-headedness. Or perhaps it was more due to his discovering the thrill of a hunt.

The brown haired woman was followed by a three other plainclothes officers, stern faces strewn on all of them. It was obvious by their positioning that the woman was of a higher status than the others, their body language indicating a form of deference they had towards her that showed obvious rank.

But they were in his way and that wouldn’t do.

Haru barely had time to react when two of her men were thrown into the air, sending flying to the point that they’d most likely get knocked unconscious while hitting the ground. The third officer was only able to get his hand on his gun before the same fate befell him, his body sailing into the air while Haru stared at the source of the attack.

“Hibari-san,” she remarked coolly.

“Let’s finish what we stared,” he greeted in return, the chains of his tonfas already out and swinging in a menacing rhythm.

Haru didn’t reply, her hands remaining limp by her side.

“Or are you too much of a coward? A pathetic little herbivore that needs to be squashed?” Hibari goaded, the hypnotic hum of the chains growing louder as the speed increased, his patience running thin by her indifference. He decided to prod harder. “Or do you believe that you’ll receive some form of penance if you allow yourself to be defeated right here? That it’ll somehow make up for the wrong you committed when you nearly killed-.”

The air whistled as a throwing knife was aimed right at his head. Hibari didn’t even blink as the chains were tilted just enough to knock the knife to the side.

Finally, a reaction.

However, just as before, he was taken aback by the expression on her face. There was no anger or resentment. Only a somber smile on her face with her hand still poised from throwing the knife.

“I regret nothing.” She whispered and then raised her hand up.

Hibari’s eyes widened and he internally cursed, the chains on his tonfa moving even faster once his hears caught the sound of the incoming bullet.

Snipers!

He deflected the ones already shot and then quickly moved out of the way, leaping in between the nearby buildings to obtain some cover. His teeth were gritted as he could still see the damn woman standing in the middle of the street, the ridiculous smile on her face and her hand still held upward in a signal for the snipers. This woman, did she have everything already planned?

“Will you still follow?” her soft voice pierced through the tension, almost echoing within the empty streets.

“I will catch you,” he snarled out the vow.

Haru’s smiled widened as she turned around, her hand now raised in the air to bid farewell. “We’ll see about it.

Their next meeting didn’t take as long and this time, it wasn’t intentional.

Once Hibari had gotten word that the damn woman would be making an appearance in Cairo, he’d immediately boarded the plane that’d take him there. To him, it didn’t matter who was enemy or ally. All those who approached them were forcibly interrogated for answers concerning her whereabouts. It was starting to become an obsession, a need, to see her and continue their unfinished fight.

But the fight had evaporated from within him the moment he found her within the hotel room, blood soaking through the dirty carpet as she laid against the wall smeared with blood that was a mix of hers and the dead body a foot away from her. It wasn’t the sight of her beaten and bloodied that stopped him.

No, it was the blank glimmer in her eyes. The lack of the mischievous brown spark that glowed behind those solemn orbs.

Hibari glowered at the bleeding woman. Her arm was streaked with crimson due to the wound near her shoulder and lying a few feet from her was the dagger that was obviously the weapon used to end her attacker. She looked so pathetic and weak, her clothes torn and bruises forming on her face.

“You finally caught me.” Haru mumbled.

There was no reply.

“Though I guess I’m in no condition to give a proper fight,” she continued, though she sounded listless and unfocused. “I know you-.”

“Do you believe yourself to be some sort of martyr? Some sad little girl who’s fate she can’t control?” though he spoke softly, there was sharp steel layered behind his voice that threatened to rip her to shreds. “Your actions mean nothing.”

So directionless and stupid.

“The Vongola base in Belgium is destroyed,” she ignored the barb behind his words. “Almost half of the bases owned by the Vongola internationally have been seized by the police. It won’t be long until Vongola’s headquarters in Italy will be taken as well.”

Like he gave a crap about that. His silence told her that much. Hibari spun his tonfas forward, the smooth edge of it pressed underneath Haru’s child, lifting her face up so that they could see eye to eye.

“The next time we meet, I’ll bite you dead.” He said impassively, though the smoldering in his eyes clearly indicated his displeasure over the situation. “Make sure you become prey worthy of that hunt.”

The fourth time they met, it was she who sought him this time.

He’d been lounging in one of the worn down bar settee within the dimly lit room, in his hand a glass of a Manhattan. From a few feet away was a pair of plainclothes officers, whispering amongst themselves about some sort of covert operation. Since the war against the national defense force began, the Vongola and all of its brethren had been diligently keeping an eye on them to prevent any more surprise attacks. Unfortunately, it was as though they were always one step ahead of them, destroying their bases one by one...

The work of the ‘fucking traitor’ as Gokudera liked to put it.

Any other day, Hibari would have never taken upon himself to do something as boring as spying. However, he needed a drink and it was simply convenient that those two herbivores were whispering amongst themselves in the best bar in this dump. Unfortunately, despite the sharp sting of the alcohol, it was doing nothing for him. Perhaps confronting those officers would be a better choice... interrogation would be a hell of a lot more interesting than watching them mumble about nothing.

The cushion beside him gave in slightly and a sweet scent permeated his senses. His form tensed, but he didn’t move when a soft, warm body pressed itself against his solid form. Hibari was already ready to casually shove the woman off of him, the police noticing be damned, when a melancholic voice whispered melodically into his ear.

“I didn’t believe the Guardian of the Cloud would dare to lower himself to such investigations.”

His automatic response was to snake his arm around her shoulders, effectively trapping her against him and preventing any sort of escape. He wanted to turn his head, to look at her, but instead, she curled herself against him and pressed her head against his neck. Her hand gently caressed his purple dress shirt, running her fingers over his taut chest.

“You’re too tense,” she murmured. “They’ve noticed you watching them.

From the corner of his eyes, he saw black strands. A cover, perhaps. Still, the voice was unmistakable. This presence belonged to her.

“However,” she continued while drawing meandering circles on his torso, “they haven’t realized who you are just yet.”

“Your arm has healed,” he remarked and traced the scar that lingered. The wound had been too severe and had left its mark. Briefly, he wondered if there were any more on her. How deep were those scars? What had she gone through to obtain them?

“So it has,” she spoke only to stop, startled when fingers grasped her chin and tilted her face so that she was looking straight at him. His skin was cold to the touch due to the drink he had previously been indulging him. Haru didn’t resist him, mostly surprised that he’d done such a thing at all.

Hibari toyed with the black strands on her head and her eyes, a vibrant green. They looked wrong, so misplaced, and yet at the same time, so right. Another mask upon the mask she’d always worn around them. A stranger, never known by any.

Without warning, Hibari pressed his lips against hers. Haru’s eyes widened and he grabbed the back of her head, keeping her still as he slanted his lips better against her own. His tongue traced the seams of her lips, but he didn’t force them open and instead gently worried her bottom lip with his teeth. His eyes were also still open and they stared straight into hers.

The blush was heavy on her cheeks and he could feel her heartbeat thudding against her chest. For someone who has killed so many men, it was odd that something as innocent as a kiss would affect her so much. Not to mention, she was the one who approached him first.

But when she hesitantly opened her mouth, he nearly purred in approval. There was no hesitation as he accepted her invitation, his tongue curling hotly around her own while coaxing it to enter his own mouth. Her eyes were slowly closing as she simply let herself go, tasting the slight bitterness of the whiskey in his mouth mixed in with the subtle sweetness of the vermouth.

His hand was trailing down from her hair and down her back, tracing her spine in a way that had her pressed herself harder into him, a slight whimsical moan escaping between their joined lips. Hibari’s grabbed onto her hips, hoisting her onto his lap where she straddled him, her fingers curled tightly around the front of his shirt while the slinky red dressed hiked up to her thighs.

The feel of the damp heat between her legs made him growl and without warning, he made a sharp thrust upward. Her eyes clenched shut tighter and it was only due to how he kept her locked in the kiss that her loud moan was swallowed by him.

There was a loud cough and the sound of coins and paper money being dropped on the table belonging to the cops.

It was like a splash of ice cold water thrown at her by reality.

Her movements began to slow, but he gave no opportunity to stop. His hands clutched onto her hips tightly as he began to roll them towards him, the friction between the two of them causing her to bite his lip hard without meaning to. In retaliation, he dug his fingers into her hips, being sure to leave bruises that would last for at least over a week.

It was obvious that he had experience in this, where she did not. And it was completely unfair.

But at the same time... so... so...

Her arms were wrapped tightly around his neck as she desperately held onto him, the sensation throughout her body overwhelming enough that her eyes had turned damp. Like before, without warning, his hands had stilled and she’d collapsed against him, shivering and trembling for something she didn’t understand.

No, she did understand.

But did she want it?

“The pathetic herbivores are gone...” his low tenured voice was enough to make her briefly tighten her hold around him. The sound was enough to send a warm heat down her belly. But then his words registered in her head and she all but attempted to push away from him. He let her, but didn’t release his hands from her hips, keeping her still pressed intimately against him.

“T-Then you weren’t noticed,” damn, her voice was shaking and she couldn’t look at him. Instead, her eyes trailed down his lips, so red and thoroughly kissed, and she flinched, trailing lower only to realize that looking down didn’t make it any better.

Don’t cry.

She would not cry.

Hibari lazily thumbed her jutting hipbone through the silky material of her dress. The previous desire to fight her, to test his strength against her, had all but vanished now. It was like when he’d come upon her, broken and bleeding, in that hotel room. She was an injured lioness, limping and snarling with her vicious teeth, seemingly able to do critical damage in the eyes of those around her, but actually completely helpless to whatever fate would befall her.

“I’ll be in Paris for another week,” his words barely registered in her head as the moment his grip on her hips loosened, she scrambled off of him. “The top floor of Banke Hotel.”

Her reflexes kicked in as she saw something sailing straight for her face. There was a light metallic clink and, to her confusion, a set of keys were in her hands.

“And next time,” she instinctively looked at him as he addressed her and almost took a step back. Hibari was sitting against the settee with his arms spread on the head of it, providing the illusion of being poised and relaxed, but betrayed by the sharp intensity within his eyes. There was no smile on his face, only a calculative predatory look while his voice came out in a tightly restrained, guttural growl, “lose the wig and contacts.”

AU: Soo... this is what I started writing last week and it was coming out all weird, which was why I didn't bother posting it. Yesterday, while a bit delirious with a fever, I tried continuing this thing again. I have a slight idea as to what I was going for this, but at the same time -and this is what writer's block can do to you- I kind of don't.

I was trying something a bit different here. Characters might be a bit OOC because of that, haha. This was something I've been toying with for a while... an undercover Haru who's actually a spy against the Vongola, but as shown above, she's struggling a lot with that fact (well, minus the whole Haru/Hibari part. Haha, I added that in after reading reviews about wanting more 1886). :) If I do make sequel oneshots of this, I do have an ending in mind for it. However, it'll be in the way, way back-burner compared to the other fanfics I'm working on.

Anywho, hope you guys enjoyed! :D Feel free to leave a review sharing your thoughts.

Mine

HappyFace1886

“Haru is mine so stay away, stupid!” Lambo yelled, shoving I-Pin. The younger girl made a sound of protest, but Lambo pushed at her face with his foot and prevented her from standing up. She attempted to fight back by flailing her arms wildly, but found that her limbs to be too short to reach the busy haired boy. Lambo laughed in triumphed. How dare this stupid tail head think she was even a match for the likes of him? “Haha, Lambo-sama is the best! Someone like you can’t hope to ever reach my-urk!”

I-Pin, having had enough of the boy’s nonsense, chucked one of her buns at his head. It hit him smack in the middle of his forehead and Lambo was sent sprawling backwards onto the ground. He held onto the back of his head where it had hit the ground, the bun having stunned him more than hurt him. Tears gathered in his eyes and he glowered angrily at I-Pin.

“You stupid!” he yelled and dug his hand into his hair, pulling out the impossibly large bazooka from in there. He turned to aim it at I-Pin, failing to realize that he was actually holding it the other way around. “Take this!”

I-Pin squeaked and covered her hand with her face, preparing herself for the inevitable. There was a loud explosion and she remained still, a gust of wind blowing right past her. Then she paused, feeling no different from just a second ago. Peeking between her fingers, she saw that the Lambo she knew was no long there.

Fifteen year old Bovino Lambo sat on the ground, looking stunned at the sudden development. His face was flushed and it was obvious that he had just been in tears. He let out a loud yell and stood up. “I’m... I’m back? Is it ten years ago right now?”

“Eh?” I-Pin stared at the older boy in confusion, but he paid no mind to her. In fact, he looked ecstatic at the fact that she was right there in front of him.

“Yes! You’re a kid right now!” he cried out. “That means I’m back in the past! It’s not too late!”

I-Pin stared as the older Lambo suddenly jumped onto his feet and began speeding out of the park.

What was that about?

Lambo’s chest heaved and his muscles burned with how fast he was running; however, nothing mattered other than the fact that he had to hurry. He only had five minutes until the effects wore off and he ended up back in the future. But where could she possibly be? He was running blindly right now!

“Pleeeaasseee, Kyoko-chan?”

His foot skidded as he heard the all too familiar voice and he hopped a few steps before leaped backwards, pressing his back against the brick fence. He peered around the corner and felt his thundering heart skip a beat when he saw the tuft of brown hair and the happy laughter that tickled his ears.

“Are you sure you don’t want to come, Kyoko-chan?” Haru pressed, nudging the orange haired girl. “I-Pin-chan and Lambo-chan would be really happy if you joined us at the park today! Besides, we don’t get to play together enough!”

“Aw, I’m sorry Haru-chan,” Kyoko said with a slight shake of her head. “I promised my mom that I’d take care of the errands she gave me yesterday. Maybe next time. Say hi to I-Pin-chan and Lambo-chan for me.”

Haru pouted, but relented. “Fine, but it’s a promise! We can all get ice cream together next time.”

“It’s a promise,” Kyoko agreed and gave her a wave before running down the empty streets. Haru waved back, watching Kyoko disappear around the corner, before she sighed. She didn’t mind playing with I-Pin-chan and Lambo-chan on her own, but it would have been fun if there were more people around. The boys were too busy playing some sort of training game with Reborn-chan. It seemed as though everyone was too busy to hang out with each other these days.

Meanwhile, fifteen year old Lambo, in the place where he was hiding from Haru, clutched onto his heard as indecision suddenly struck. Three minutes. There were only three minutes left until the effects of the bazooka wore off, but who was he kidding? How could he have been so stupid to believe that something could change just because he was in the past? After all, he was from the future and he knew how things would turn out.

Haru-chan would end up with him.

He’d always have to see her pretty brown eyes glowing with affection towards him and how she’d blush so prettily whenever she’d hold hands with him. And when she turned her gaze towards him, all she’d see is the young boy she’d often play with during their childhood. She would never see him as anything more than a snot-nosed brat that’d always cling to her and cry whenever someone tried to steal her attention away from him.

Three minutes.

She’d never see him as a man. Never even regard him as a significant other. Forever and ever, he, Lambo Bovino, would be a simple boy she’d always warmly regard as a younger brother of sort. How could he even dare think that he could compete with the likes of him.

Him. They were both fighters, but he was much more experienced. He was a strong and formidable opponent that Lambo could only hope of dreaming to compete with when he was fully grown. Lambo wasn’t stupid. He knew he was still growing and his powers wouldn’t fully develop until he was much older. Though he was fifteen years old and of the age the other Guardians had first started getting involved in the mafia world, there was still a lot he needed to learn and grow in.

Right now... he was unworthy for someone like her.

Two and a half minutes.

Lambo turned the corner and stood right in front of the path Haru was walking in. She stopped in mid-step, startled at his sudden appearance. For a moment, she instinctively thought to run away from the strange boy who was breathing really hard with a desperate look on his face. However, there was something so oddly familiar about him.

The soft back curls that made up his wild and unruly hair. The yellow horns that stuck out at the side of his head. Then there were those shining green eyes that seemed to look so lost, staring down at her with what looked to be a tears forming in them.

“...Lambo-chan?” the name left her lips before she could even consider what she was saying. With a squeak, she covered her mouth with her hands. Lambo-chan was only a little boy. How could she even think that someone like this guy was him? “I-I’m s-.”

Two minutes.

Determination flashed through those green eyes and he suddenly grabbed Haru by the shoulders. She jumped in surprise and quickly glanced back and forth between the hands holding onto her and the guy in front of him. What was he-?

If he couldn’t have her in the future, then he’d at least let himself have this one moment with her. Lambo cupped the side of her face and tugged her closer, leaning forward so that he could press his lips against hers in a soft, intimate embrace.

“Oi, what the hell are you doing?” there was a loud snarl before a dynamite stick struck the side of Lambo’s head. It was enough to send him stumbling backwards, providing enough distance between him and Haru before the thing exploded.

Lambo sat on the ground with his hair all burnt up and in an afro akin to the style he had when he was much younger. He remained dazed and confused, wondering what the hell happened, when the sharp edge of a katana was pressed against his throat. A chill went down his spine and when he looked up, he saw the strained smile on Yamamoto’s face as he pressed the sword harder against his neck. “You know it’s rude to force yourself onto someone like that.”

A smooth metal pole pressed against the other side of his neck and Lambo’s eyes swiveled to the side to see a ticked off Hibari glaring white hot daggers at him. “Inappropriate conduct in my territory... I’ll bite you dead.”

“Are you okay, Haru-chan?” Tsuna asked in concern, holding his hand out towards Haru whose knees had buckled as soon as Lambo had been thrown to the side. “He didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

“N-No, Haru is fine,” she managed to stammer out, a heavy blush on her face as she reached out to grab Tsuna’s hand.

“Stupid woman, you should know better than to lower your guard around guys like that,” Gokudera growled, gruffly crossing his arms across his chest. “And the stupid cow, what the hell was he thinking?”

Lambo felt the tears now pouring down his eyes. He then slumped down onto the ground, wailing with his head thrown back. “No, this isn’t fair! Why did you guys have to show up like that? It’s not fair!”

“Lambo-chan, behave yourself!” Tsuna scolded, though any force behind his words was lost due to the surprise and uncertainty on his face.

“Hahi! That’s not Lambo-chan,” Haru said, looking puzzled.

“No, no, no, you guys are always getting in the way! It’s not fair,” Lambo then reached behind himself to whip out the ten-year bazooka from behind. He turned it around so that it was pressed against his temple and without hesitation, reached for where the trigger was.

“Oh shit,” Gokudera slapped his hand over his face. It was too late to stop the brat and he knew he really didn’t want to see the guy pull the trigger and bring who knows what to where they were right now.

There was a gust of smoke and Tsuna groaned out loud. No, not again. If Lambo-chan, while in his fifteen year old form, shot himself with the ten-year bazooka again, that meant his twenty-five year old form was going to make an appearance. He covered his eyes as a breeze blew the gust away and was surprised to see the five year old Lambo-chan sitting where the fifteen year old version had been sitting only seconds ago.

Everyone stared in silence at the sudden development before Yamamoto broke it, chuckling as he sheathed his sword. “Haha, I guess time ran out before Lambo-chan was able to pull the trigger again.”

“Humph, ridiculous,” Hibari turned away, his jacket covering up his tonfas.

“Well who asked you to follow us?” Gokudera snapped, pointing an accusing finger at Hibari. “You’re the one who demanded to know why Reborn was training us and then got all ‘fight me, infant, fight me!’”

“Wait, what’s going on?” Haru demanded. “Why are you guys fighting Reborn-chan and why’s Lambo-chan here all of a sudden? Who was that guy from before? Why did he look so much like Lambo-chan?”

“None of your business, stupid woman!”

“Haru is not stupid!”

“H-Haru-chan, I’m sure Gokudera-kun didn’t mean it like that,” Tsuna cried out, trying to stymie the fight that was about to break out.

“No, get away from Haru! She’s mine!” Lambo yelled, bulldozing his way through the boys in order to tackle-hug Haru. “It’s not fair! The bigger version of you guys were doing this too! But Haru is mine! Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!”

“W-What?” Gokudera sputtered, a streak of red blooming across his face. “What the hell are you going on about, you stupid cow? What bigger version of us?”

“You guys can’t trick the great Lambo! You just want her for yourself, but too bad! She’s mine!” Lambo latched onto Haru and stuck his tongue out derisively at Gokudera.

“Who would want anything to do with this stupid woman?” Gokudera hollered and Tsuna paled when he saw the angry vein throbbing on top of Haru’s face.

“Hahi, Haru doesn’t need to take this from anyone! Let’s go Lambo-chan. I bet I-Pin-chan is waiting for us at the park.” Haru and Lambo then both proceeded to stick their tongues out at Gokudera before Haru, holding onto Lambo, began to walk towards the direction of the park. “Thanks for your help Tsuna-kun, Yamamoto-kun, ....erm, Hibari-san.”

And as Haru ran away, no one knew of what fate had in store for them when within the next few weeks, Haru, on the throes of heartbreak, would walk into the rooftops of Namimori Junior High where she and a certain prefect had a dangerous conversation about the ‘power of love’.
