Notes

My first post on tumblr! It's the drafted sequel to 'Bargain' for Giotto x Haru that I didn't like how it turned out. I know a few were curious and now I finally have a platform to post my incompleted or 'drafted/discarded' work! :) Hopefully I'll have time to post other incompleted work or any work that I have written, but didn't have any plans on actually posting on my blog.

As for my current WIP, I'm currently working on Ambigram!

Roses are Red, Violets are Purple

HappyFace1886

The Guardian of the Cloud.

The loner who preferred to work alone and walked the path of their own choosing.

Alaude was the first Cloud Guardian of the Vongola, the man who would start a precedent that would not be matched until several generations later in the small country of Japan. His feats rivaled that of the Primo Vongola, including his fearsome power and awe-inspiring presence. It was a fact that Giotto acknowledged and respected. Still, he couldn’t help but openly gawk at the display before him.

“...what the hell is Alaude doing?” G sounded incredulous, rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn’t imagining things.

Giotto couldn’t respond, feeling the urge to cover his face with his hand... though whether out of exasperation or amusement, he couldn’t decide just yet.

Miura Haru, their young time traveler from the future, had a look of pure confusion and nervousness by the fact that she was currently enveloped in the arms of the fearsome blonde. She was currently injured with bandages wrapped around her head and arms, but had still been deemed well enough to leave the sick bay. However, she could have sworn that she’d been simply talking to Giotto-sama about the incident that led to her injuries when, suddenly, arms had gently wrapped themselves around her and pulled her back until she was sitting on the lap of a warm, solid body.

She looked up to see piercing blue eyes staring down at her.

Hahi?!

Giotto gave in. He covered his face with his hand. Originally, he’d thought he’d been imagining things. After all, this was the first time Alaude had started behaving like this...

“Hahi?” Haru squeaked in surprise, her fingers tightening onto the blanket wrapped around her as the sound of a cup gently being laid on the table startled her out of her thoughts. Her hair was still soaking wet and Ugetsu-san had gone off to get her some spare clothes to change out of her current wet ones. She looked up to see an all too familiar face, despite the difference in coloration. She quickly began to wipe her tears away. “Hib-...I mean Alaude-san?”

“Tea,” he merely supplied in his usual monotonous tone of voice and stared at her for a moment longer before leaving.

Meanwhile, Giotto sat in front of Haru, having had a front row seat of the transaction. Even he was left speechless at what just happened.

Granted, Alaude wasn’t a cold, unfeeling monster. He just never went out of his way to comfort someone like that, especially when there were others who could do it instead. To others, it’d just seem like basic manners to provide a shivering young woman, who’d literally poofed into existence in the pouring rain and in tears, something hot to drink to warm herself up. Knuckle or even Lampo would have immediately served her the hot beverage, if they’d just been given the chance. Alaude would’ve known that they’d have done it and yet, he reacted first.

“Giotto, I’m not seeing things, right?” he felt his right-hand man nudging him insistently with his elbow.

“A-Alaude-san?” Haru squeaked when he leaned his cheek against her head, as though holding her like this was the most natural thing in the world.

Giotto’s eyes widened slightly and he stared as Alaude appeared before him in the middle of the public road. It was rare to bump into his Cloud Guardian like this since Alaude preferred to work alone and even rarely met up with him and the other Guardians when they needed to discuss matters concerning the Famiglia. Giotto spoke uncertainly. “Alaude?”

“The nearby lord of the lands has been going on threatening to punish those who are unable to pay for the unreasonable tax rates he’s imposed on the residents. The matter has been swiftly dealt with and the lord will likely retire in place with a new heir who is more considerate.” Alaude murmured nonchalantly.

“I... see?” Giotto couldn’t help, but end his words in a question. Alaude’s behavior was making no sense to him. If he’d settled the situation, why bother to even seek him out in person to explain what happened? Why not write a letter? Or leave him guessing, as Alaude was apt to do most of the time.

“Giotto-sama,” he turned around to see Haru leaving the tailor shop, wearing a fashionable blue dress with a matching colored hat on her head. The dress was obviously too stylish for everyday wear and based on Haru’s flushed complexion, she was well aware of this. “I-I told Piero-san that I only wanted something plain, b-but I don’t think he understood me!”

Giotto felt his face slightly flush at how the dress showed Haru’s bare arms while the edges of the shimmery risqué blue fabric stopped daringly right above her knees, showing off her smooth creamy legs. He’d heard that that sort of clothing was becoming popular with the current generation, but hadn’t expected to see it in such a small town as this. Not to mention, try as he might to block it from his mind, the dress suited Haru too well,  clinging to her lithe figure mesmerizingly... then there was that enthralling flush of her cheeks and how she’d shyly look away.

Before he could say anything, he felt Alaude move from beside him. Giotto could only stare as Alaude removed his coat and placed it around Haru’s shoulder. He then felt his jaw drop slightly when he heard Alaude murmuring about helping her with the tailor before placing a hand on her lower back, courteously guiding her back into the store.

...what just happened?

The signs were all there. Subtle, but there. It was just that no one ever thought to connect the dots because this was Alaude they were dealing with. Who knew what went through that man's mind?! His expressions rarely changed from between nonchalance and frightening vexation.

Giotto peered between his fingers at the couple before him, Haru still flustered and speechless with Alaude intentionally looking oblivious to the gobsmacked looks around him.

Really, one would actually think this was out of behavior for Alaude, but if he thought about it, it was actually very fitting.

The Cloud Guardian was one that could not be contained. He moved freely and behaved as he wished. Even when approaching another, he would move at a tempo of his own... and would have the subtlety of a cat stalking it's prey. Meaning unless one could read Alaude’s mind, no one was going to know what the hell he was doing.

“Alaude?” Giotto looked in surprise at the sight of him walking down the hallways. Last he’d heard, Alaude was working on a case in England. He’d actually already been gone for a few weeks and it wasn’t unusual to not hear from him from months on end.

Alaude slightly turned towards Giotto in acknowledgement and two-toned eyes immediately zeroed in on what was in Alaude’s arms... or more specifically who was in Alaude’s arm.

“Is that Haru?” Giotto asked incredulously, openly staring at the slumbering woman being carefully cradled by the normally distant Cloud Guardian. Concern then immediately rose up. Alaude wouldn’t be holding her like that if something hadn’t happened. “Is she okay?”

“I found her asleep in the courtyard,” he replied simply.

Taken aback by the lackluster response, Giotto found himself speechless again.

“I’m taking her to her room,” Alaude continued nonchalantly, as though this was just normal, everyday behavior for him. He lifted Haru up higher, being careful not to awaken her from her slumber. Her head, originally resting against Alaude’s chest, was now pressed against the column of his neck. Haru murmured something incoherently before snuggling into Alaude’s neck, sighing softly in her sleep.

Again, Giotto felt his jaw slacken while Alaude gave him a brief nod, turning to leave with the slumbering woman in his arms.

...nothing made sense anymore...

...that should’ve been an obvious sign. Alaude hated being touched and he didn’t like touching others unless necessary. The fact that he’d taken into consideration of the fact that Haru had fallen asleep out in the open, vulnerable to all sorts of attack, should have been a obvious clue as to what was going on in Alaude’s head.

But because this was Alaude they were talking about and because it wasn’t completely unreasonable to think that, what with Alaude’s form of justice, he wouldn’t lend a hand in protecting a vulnerable woman who was forcibly sent to a era that was not her own... even if he could have just as easily notified a guard or had simply woken her up so that she could go to her room on her own.

...seeing this, Alaude’s behavior from a few hours ago really made a lot of sense now.

Giotto raised a hand in order to block part of the sheer amount of flames emitting off of the blonde haired man in front of him. Beside him, he could feel his fellow Guardian’s doing the same thing. Alaude waited but a moment before lunging for the foolish men who were the culprits behind the kidnapping.

“What’s wrong with Alaude?” Knuckle raised his voice in order to be heard over the loud screams of terror. “I haven’t seen him like this since he was a kid!”

“Shouldn’t we stop him?” Lambo asked, trembling while hiding behind G as he stared in morbid horror at the amount of blood that was being splattered everywhere. “I-I know these guys are the bad guys, but this feel like we’re the ones in the wrong!”

Still, Giotto and the Guardians didn’t move an inch as Alaude continued his slaughter, knowing that the moment they took a single step, there was a large possibility of that overflowing bloodlust to be aimed towards them.

Everyone had just assumed that Alaude’s anger had been from the fact that the bastards who’d taken Haru had interfered with his sense of justice. It wasn’t too much of a farfetched idea since Alaude had a habit of appearing out of nowhere and executing swift righteousness on the fools that dared to disrupt the tranquility of his territories.

But now...

Giotto managed to smother his quiet chuckle while shaking his head.

“Hahi, I don’t understand!”

Alaude really needed to work on his flirting skills.

AU: ...yeah... this came up when I was trying to write a more 'serious' A86. I finally have some messy, steamy A86 written up (gosh, actually sacrificed sleep and wrote it on my phone right when it was bedtime, haha), but it needs to be cleaned a bit. Also, struggling a bit with Genesis. I have an idea of where I want it to go. Getting it down in writing is the challenge this time because it's coming out all weird.

Basically, in this oneshot, Alaude has been courting Haru this entire time, but because he’s so gosh-darn subtle about it and it’ll be out of character for him to show someone 'normal' affection, no one really noticed. Him hugging her like this in the end is because he's relieved that she's okay and is sort of reassuring himself by holding her.

Also, I know my title sucks. It's a struggle trying to think of one. @__@ This was me trying to be clever by showing how serious Alaude is with him correcting people that violets are not blue, but purple (just like how he's so bad at showing his affections in this oneshot), even though people are just saying those lines to be romantic... the thing is, both roses and violets can be of different color than just 'red' or 'blue'. xD So that's not really right either.

God, I need sleep. No more sleep deprived nights for me! ...unless a good fanfic idea pops up... argh... OTL curse you smart phone and typing capabilities!

05. Old Intimacies - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 1886

Cloud Watching Days

05. Old Intimacies

HappyFace1886

After announcing his presence behind the door, Kusakabe entered into Hibari’s private room within the underground facilities of the Foundation, only to pause and arch an eyebrow at the sight that awaited him.

“Not a word,” the twenty-four year old Hibari warned calmly as he sat on top of one of the cushions on the tatami mat. In his arms was the slumbering younger version of Miura Haru, her hands clutching onto the front of his kinagashi with tear stains clearly marring her features. Hibari’s arms carefully cradled her against him, keeping her protectively held within his arms.

Kusakabe raised his hands up in surrender, trying to hide his slight smile. “I didn’t plan to, Kyo-san.”

“What do you want?”

“Nothing urgent,” Kusakabe said with a chuckle and began to make his way back to the door. “I’ll return later when you’re more... available.”

Hibari scowled, but gave no other reaction as the man quickly made his way out of the room. Instead, he turned his attention to the slumbering young girl. He’d been so careful about staying away from her. Being around her younger self was too much of a distraction, one that he could not afford if he wished to obtain the goal he had in mind.

Hibari paused in the midst of glancing over the list of people who’d be forcibly brought to the future. His gaze sharpened and he looked up at the quiet man in front of him. In the past, the man would have flinched and run away, but this time he coolly and almost somberly returned his gaze. “It’s necessary.”

“It is not,” Hibari said icily, dropping the paper on the table while leaning back on his seat with an almost dismissive flair. “The one your younger self cares for the most is Sasagawa Kyoko. She will provide all the motivation your younger self needs to strive to become stronger. There is no point in bringing her here as well.”

“And yet she’s one of those being targeted by the Millefiore and we know it isn’t simply due to her relationship with me and the Vongola,” two-toned eyes turned to him grimly. “She needs to be brought here as well.”

Hibari wanted to claim that his own younger self would not be worried about her safety either, that while Sasagawa Kyoko would have the support of this man’s younger self and even her older brother for comfort, Miura Haru would have no one. Their relationship wouldn’t have progressed to the point that he’d actually consider her otherwise. However, the words would not leave him. He could not acknowledge it. She’d become too important for him to dismiss like this.

Hibari’s smiled coldly at him, looking so thoroughly decadent of what was to come.

He would make the young Sawada Tsunayoshi awaken his true abilities even if it meant killing him.

Unfortunately, his training wasn’t progressing fast enough. To make matters worse, the fool had dared to take his frustration and fear out on his own Famiglia. Knowing Haru, she’d attempted to hide from the others to prevent them from worrying and had run blindly through the corridors, accidentally ending up within the Foundations division within the underground facilities. And of course, the place she’d found refuge in would be the room he preferred to reside in whenever he returned to this base.

Hibari scowled. He’d expected the others, such as that poisonous cook, to keep an eye on her to make sure she was fine, but apparently he’d overestimated them. When he realized just who it was that was behind the sliding doors of the room and just who exactly was releasing those quiet sobs, it had taken all his self-control to fight against the instincts to enter inside and hold her.

For too long, they’d been a constant to one another. A source of comfort, a source of warmth, a source of home...

But now he had to bitterly wait until she cried herself to sleep before entering inside.

Rules and preplanned strategies stifled him. He was not a man that could be constrained or lorded over. No, the epitome of the Guardian of the Cloud, he was one who walked where he wished and behaved however he wanted to. Unfortunately, he was also aware of the gravity of the situation.

Just as he’d do everything in his power to maintain the discipline and order of Namimori, he would do all that and more in order to keep her safe. Even if it meant doing something he didn’t prefer.

The door slid open quietly and Hibari entered the room, his eyes drawn towards the petite figure lying on top of the tatami mats. It would be so easy to actually approach her, to talk to her, and explain to her what was happening and what was to happen. The others did not shy away from such interactions, but Hibari found himself unable to do so. No, he didn’t want to.

Because the girl before him was not her. Not yet. She was just a memory of what she used to be and he refused to tarnish her with information that he firmly believed would take place, regardless  of the fact that time was being changed even with each passing second of the time traveler’s presence within this timeline...

But still, the sight of her tears seemed to affect him as much as the older one’s did. Hibari resisted the urge to sigh and instead kneeled before Haru, gingerly lifting her up into his arms. It would not do if she woke up in such a place, especially if it might cause her to return here for solace.

He should have returned her to the other side of the base. It would probably be a few hours before she awakened as the combination of the stress created by the foolish Sawada, her fear of being trapped into a terrifyingly dangerous situation, and crying herself to this state had mostly likely exhausted all of her energy. Still, he should have ordered Kusakabe to take her away from this place.

Instead, he found himself settling down on a cushion with her in his arms. Regardless of the fact that this was her younger self, how long had it been since he held her like this? For the past few months, he’d been so consumed with his travels to learn more about the Box weapons and preparing for the ultimate plan that he, Irie Shochi, and Sawada Tsunayoshi had formed, that he’d absolutely had no time for her. And, of course, her patience was never ending.

Hibari glanced up when he saw Hibird flying towards him. The yellow ball of feathers had disappeared for a few days and now, while Hibari was preparing for his journey out of Japan after meeting Sawada Tsunayoshi and Ire Shochi, Hibird returned with a tired peep on his shoulder. His sharp eyes hadn’t missed the small note attached to the small bird’s leg and as Hibari leaned his face against Hibird, his senses picking up even the most minute traces of her scent.

Haru.

He pulled the note from Hibird’s leg and unraveled the small scrap of paper.

‘Stay safe.’

The fact that he made her wait.

The fact that he would ever find himself in a position such as this.

How infuriating.

It did not escape Hibari that if Byakuran had truly succeeded in crumbling the world in several other parallel worlds, that meant he’d also been successful in subduing all the other Hibari’s that’d existed in that world. His blood would normally thrum with excitement at this prospect of fighting such a worthy opponent, but at the same time, his ire could not be contained by the fact that his enemy dared to endanger what was his.

Fighting and dominating over the pathetic herbivores was a way of life. Harming what should not be harmed, however, was an act worthy of a slow and painful death.

Hibari’s hand reached up to caress her smiling face while she looked down at him, her hands running through his hair while he rested his head on top of her lap. The sunlight gently rained down on them from under the blue sky and the shade from the giant tree provided them from the protection of any of the more intense heat.

A lazy idyllic warm afternoon spent on the rare occasion they were both free at the same time. These moments had become farther in between after they’d both obtained their respective and official positions in life and so when these days did occur...

Haru’s laughter at his feather-light touches made him smile.

...every second was to be cherished.

His next training session with Sawada wouldn’t be until another hour or so. Once he met him again, he’d be sure to physically beat into the fool of the error his ways. There was no time for childish games and immature hesitation. There was no time for him to grow frustrated and angry when the fact of the matter was that the fate of the entire world rested on what developed right here and now. Sawada Tsunayoshi currently had the power to make a difference and needed to awaken that strength immediately.

And if Sawada couldn’t live up to his full potential, there was no need for him to be even alive anymore.

Hibari’s hold on Haru became more protective, his gaze sharpening while a foreboding aura nearly seemed to seep out of his body.

There was just too much at stake this time around.

::Extra Scene 01::

The first time Haru stumbled upon Hibari after the startling revelation of the fact that they were somehow in a future, more dangerous, Namimori was after Kyoko-chan had run away from the base. Haru had been waiting for the others, just about ready to burst into tears again in fear, when she heard that Kyoko-chan and the others had returned from the outside. Her entire frame had been shaking and just getting to where the others were coming had been a terrifying ordeal in itself, especially after she heard that Gokudera-san and Yamamoto-san were both brutally injured. God, even while running, she could feel her hand trembling almost uncontrollably.

However, just when she felt as though she was going to hyperventilate from terror, all of it seemed to evaporate once her eyes fell on him.

Hibari had always been a bit taller than her, but the fact dawned upon her that he still had a lot of growing to do. The ten year older version of Hibari Kyoya seemed to tower over her, looking down at her with those piercing eyes that almost always made her squeak in alarm. His face had matured, refining the sharp features that, admittedly, made a lot of girls swoon around him even when he’d been ten years younger. His blood-thirsty, twisted nature was the only fact that prevented him from having an actual fan club, really.

In atypical Hibari fashion, his eyes seemed to linger only briefly on her as though to acknowledge her presence before he passed by her without a single word. Haru couldn’t react anyways, too stunned by the reality of it all. The fact that she really was in this dangerous future where people wanted her, of all people, dead. Her seeing an older Hibari-san cemented it all.

The fading of Hibari’s footsteps made her snap out of her thoughts and she remembered that she’d originally been running to check on Kyoko-chan and the others. However, she couldn’t miss the prevalence of the fact that she was no longer out of breath, her heartbeat slowing and the terror ebbing away.

The trembling had stopped...

::::Extra Scene 02:::

He could hear her crying in the supply room and his hands subconsciously curled into a fist at the fact that he could not approach her while she was like this. Years of hardened self-control was the only thing that held him back from turning the corner and walking down the steps where he knew he’d find her curled up against the walls, stifling her cries into her trembling fist... and it was only due to matured self-control and composure that prevented him from beating Sawada’s head into the ground for being the cause of her despair.

They were still but children.

She was still just a child.

And she was not his Haru. At least not just yet. His younger self and her would not have even held hands just yet. Him approaching her right now while she believed herself to be alone and vulnerable like this would only serve to frighten her, a bitter and stark difference from his current relationship with her older self where she'd actually search for him for comfort, even naturally expect it from him, as she'd feel safe in no other place than within his arms.

His eyes darkened.

Such restrictions. He hated this. But as much as he preferred to live life as he wished, this was not the moment. There was too much at riding on this. Her safety was at stake. Their future together was at risk.

So Hibari remained leaning against the wall, his murderous aura muted as much as possible with his hands clenched into impossibly tight fists, listening helplessly to her cries... for that was the only thing he could offer her...

::owari::

AU: Any similarities between extras and the actual thing is because I wrote the extras while getting stuck with the main one. :D Another note, in a way, hibari's willingness to restrict himself (i.e. not openly comforting Haru when he really wants to) shows just how desperate the Vongola is in the future...  just like how future tsuna even changed his behavior and brought Haru and Kyoko and Ipin into dangerous situations

Yes, yes, I promised Genesis, but Thanksgiving threw me off. Hope this is a good substitute for now! I had it mostly written so, it was easier to post this then write Genesis. I'll try to have that updated next weekend!

November Special - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - D86

Summary: When Dino realized that cute little Miura Haru wasn't so little anymore... DinoxHaru / D86

My lack of KHR knowledge might make some things untrue or some characters OOC!

Dedicated (again) to a brilliant writer, sllebswap! If you haven't checked out her work yet, please do so. She has some amazing fanfics and oneshots written up for those craving for some KHR Haru fics!! The November special was inspired by her latest chapter in her oneshot/drabble series Serendipity.

November Special

HappyFace1886

Romario shook his head in pity at the sight of his gallant boss staring at a daze into the distance. While he respected his boss and liked him as much as any member of the Chiavarone Famiglia, he could only imagine the others shaking their heads in disappointment at the pathetic sight of their boss in such a state.

Meanwhile, Dino thought his soul was leaking out of his body right about now. It was a beautiful November day, the air growing nice and crisp while the trees were changing into their beautiful, vibrant autumn shades of red, orange, and yellow. However, Dino couldn’t bring himself to appreciate any of that. No, his mind was still stuck on the incident that occurred three hours ago. It left him staring limply at the ocean as he sat on a nearby park bench.

That was...

What was...

S-Since when...

Brown eyes widened at the feel of soft lips pressed firmly against his own, hands clutching onto the front of his shirt to pull him closer. He remained frozen in front of her, unsure of how this development even came to be. She took advantage of his surprise and grabbed his hands, guiding it to her waist before her hands snuck underneath his arms to hold him closer.

She felt so warm and pliable, pressing so perfectly against his solid form that he could feel every curve of her petite figure. Vaguely, he could hear loud, angry voices in the background, but was too distracted by how she stepped backwards, pulling him with her until she was pressed against the nearby wall with him in front of her. He felt one of her hands trailing up his chest until it reached the back of his neck and his grip around her waist tightened, especially when she briefly broke the kiss in favor of finding a better angle, tilting her head so that she could better align her lips with his.

The movement was so tender and sweet that his eyes came to a close, his own hand moving from her waist until it was settled on her back of her hair, pulling her upward so that he could kiss her even harder. He lightly nibbled on her lower lip, enjoying how she trembled against him, and teased her with gentle kisses before his tongue entered through her parted lips.

He felt her grip on the back of his neck weaken, her hand clutching onto the material on his shoulder as he hungrily tasted her mouth, soft mewls escaping in between them. Dino had kissed –admittedly a bit shyly and without as much intensity as this one...- several women in the past. Being thirty-three years old, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, but she tasted so sweet and divine that he found himself lost within the kiss, wanting to drown himself with her decadent taste.

When it seemed as though she was going to break the kiss, his hand reached up to cup the side of her face, bringing her back so that he could continue ravaging her mouth. His tongue aggressively slipped back in, curling around her tongue in order to coax it back to entangle with his. However, just when he was going to raise her up higher against the wall, press his knee between her legs in order to keep her held higher up for him, a dry cough brought him back to his senses.

His eyes snapped open and he immediately broke the kiss, brown eyes taken in the sight of the flustered and panting young woman in front of him.

“D-Dino-nii,” Haru squeaked, looking so thoroughly ravished in front of him. Her hair was in disarray due to his hand still lingering within the brown tresses, having tugged and gripped at it until it was sexily mussed around her head. Her lips were a tempting shade of red and her cheeks were thoroughly flushed. “I... I think the p-people following us are g-gone.”

It had to have been his imagination right? Or some twisted, demented mist user who managed to get a hold of him right?

But alas, the still tingling sensation of his lips was a sharp reminder that what happened was not a figment of his -dirty!!- imagination.

Oh god, if Romario hadn’t appeared at that moment, what would have happened?!

Dino felt like walking into the ocean until he found the lost city of Atlantis. Maybe they’ll let him be a citizen there and he could start a new life far away from this one... this one, where he was now a lecherous, creepy old man...

“S-Sorry,” Haru mumbled as she shyly walked beside the older man who was doing everything in his power to stare at the ground, his hand shoved determinedly into his pocket. He needed to keep his hands and eyes somewhere restrained, somewhere that didn’t end up in inappropriate places on young, innocent women! “R-Romario-san was far away and I-I know Dino-san works better with one of his men around... so H-Haru thought it would have been better if we pretended to be a couple to avoid the people following us...”

Dino felt as though it was his own innocence shattering when he heard Haru’s reasoning. Little innocent Haru actually thought that pretending they were a couple making out in a dark corner was a good cover?! Since when did she think like that? G-Granted, she was twenty-five years old, but... wait... did this mean she’d been with other guys before?

Had she seriously kissed other people like that in the past?

With who?

Since when?

Dino found himself surprised at how much it actually bothered him that there was someone else who might’ve kissed her like that... or that she might’ve kissed others like that as well. The thought process then caused horror to well up in him. Why was he even thinking this? Haru was grown up, but she was still the young girl who’d always happily chirp his name with that affectionate ‘-nii’ in it!

Right?

Right?!

Romario shook his head at how his boss continued his self conflagration. He was clearly overreacting over what happened a few hours ago, but at the same time, Romario could sympathize. Dino had watched Haru grow up from a cute young teenager to a beautiful young woman. Their age gap wasn’t too ridiculously large, but it probably never crossed Dino’s mind that Haru was indeed... well... a woman.

“Nothing makes sense anymore!” Dino cried, throwing his hands up in the air.

...until now.

04. Five Minutes - Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 1886

04. Five Minutes

HappyFace1886

“You bitch,” the towering man snarled, his heavy scowl further distorting the scars on his face. In his hand was a frightening looking serrated knife with blood dripping down its fine, sharpened edge. “I’m going to enjoy cutting you to pieces.”

Haru clutched onto her bleeding arm, sweat trailing down the side of her face as she tried to keep her breathing steady.

Two minutes.

She just needed to last two more minutes.

“The best way to defend yourself is being able to read your opponent,” Hibari murmured as he leaned against the wall. Haru sat before him on her knees, looking attentively with her hands pressed on her legs. They were currently in one of the underground facilities of the Foundation that were still being built, but what they had was more than enough for their needs. “To be able to properly read your opponent, you must first overcome the paralysis that sets in when your senses are filled with fear at facing an opponent stronger than yourself.”

At that, Haru gulped a little. She’d more than enough experience when it came to that. Even though she’d stayed behind the sidelines, she still clearly remembered the battle in the future. Not to mention, later on in their own timeline when she’d been exposed to the other dangerous side of the mafia. Then there was Hibari... she’d been dragged into enough fights with him involved in the center of it to have more than enough familiarity of being pinned down by the bloodlust of an enemy.

Still...

She flinched when Hibari’s gaze sharpened on her and a suffocating pressure enveloped her.

...this was the first time she’d ever felt his bloodlust aimed towards her.

It was certainly an interesting experience from a clinical sense. The way her body automatically tensed, unsure of what to do due to the extreme danger it was in and consequently freezing in place as the fear settled over her. The only one that came to mind who could rival this thirst for violence and blood was probably the leader of the Varia. Tsuna-san and the other Guardians, not even Mukuro-san, ever summoned such a potent lust such as this.

Because this wasn’t just a simple want of killing someone.

This was a need to dominate and to crush, to force the unworthy to their knees. Or as Hibari liked to put it, to show the pathetic herbivores that their place belonged right underneath the blood stained jowls of a hungry carnivore.

For those of Hibari’s breed, this was simply just a way of life.

Haru rushed towards the man and skid between his legs, taking advantage of his towering bulking figure that required him to have a widened stance in order to balance himself. He tried to grab her, but she swiftly ended up behind him. She wasted no time, rushing towards the maze-like corridors.

The wound on her arm was shallow, but she still worried that her frantic movements would lead to blood-loss. She couldn’t afford to let that happen. One sluggish move from her and it was all over!

Just a few minutes. Maybe even just a minute! She was almost there!

The pressure evaporated and Haru nearly fell forward, her hands now pressed against the tatami mats while she panted hard to catch her breath. God, was this what Tsuna-san and the others faced all the time? Was this what brought Hibari such joy to face each time he got himself involved in a dangerous battle? She’d seen his battle maniac smiles several times and, other than the usual lazy indulgent smiles he'd give her, it was a smile of joy she rarely got to see. One filled with unbridled excitement and anticipation.

Perhaps she was a bit unhinged from being exposed to so many crazy things in this world, but Haru couldn’t stop the giggle that escaped. She covered her mouth in order to smother it. “You’re crazy, Kyo-kun.”

From in front of her, Hibari smirked indolently. He pushed himself off against the wall and walked towards her. “Once you’ve overcome your natural reactions to danger, then we can move onto reading your opponents movements. Meanwhile, we’ll also have to improve your speed so that you can avoid being grabbed.”

“Is that all I’m going to learn?” Haru inquired with a slight tilt of her head as she frowned. “Won’t I also need to learn how to defend myself?”

“Do you think you’ll also have the time and energy to devote yourself into learning how to defend and attack?” he arched an eyebrow at her, knowing that even after graduating college, she was trapped with a Spartan lifestyle under a ‘internship’ with Verde-san. Then there were her part-time jobs with Spanner and Shoichi Irie.

Haru winced. Training her body into being able to escape will probably take up what precious free time she had left for herself. “Good point... but what happens if I’m kidnapped? I can only escape them for so long and if I can’t think of a way to lose them or knock them out, I’m going to end up right where I started.”

Her attacker laughed. “Do you think you can escape me? Your blood is giving me a trail of exactly the direction I should go to find you!”

“Five minutes.”

Haru stared as Hibari showed his hand to her, his fingers all parted and showing the long artist fingers that’d ended so many enemies... and yet would hold her so delicately. “Hahi?”

Haru leaned against the wall in the middle of the corridor, breathing harshly while clutching onto her arm. Her attacker found her so and roared with laughter, waving his knife threateningly as he approached her. “Gone mad, have you? This is the first time I had a bitch grinning like you right when she’s about to be killed.”

“You’re the one who doesn’t get it,” Haru said with a tired smile.

The concrete walls behind the knife-wielding man began to crack, spider web-like fractures appearing at an extreme pace.

“All you need to do is survive for five minutes,” Hibari continued, his hooded eyes blackening at the possibility of the fool that dared to touch what was his. “I’ll take care of the rest.”

The wall exploded and an ominous figure appeared amongst the rubble. The burly man whirled around, eyes widened as a suffocating deadly presence exploded within the air. He choked and took a step back, nearly dropping his knife along the way. Unfortunately for him, perhaps it would have been best if he’d done so.

Cool, sharp eyes stared at the blood dripping on the serrated knife and of how his Haru stood behind the fool, her hand clutching onto a bloodied arm. Hibari smiled darkly as he crossed an arm across his chest, the tonfas of his cambio form clicking into action as he spoke in a quiet, deadly voice. I’ll bite you to death.”

AN: I'm losing steam... @__@ or more like, I need more sleep. The updates might slow down a little now, haha. It won't disappear completely though. I just need sleep @___@

Anywho, this is more in the future and as noted, Haru has graduated college. I’m sure that due to Haru’s relationship with the Vongola and Hibari, she’d be a prime target for kidnappers. So I figured she and Hibari would try to think of what to do if such a scenario appeared. I'm sure it was probably a big cause of concern for the both of them, Hibari with wanting to keep her safe and Haru for not wanting to be a liability for the freedom-love Hibari. However, while a badass Haru will be nice, I can’t imagine her trying to juggle all her intense studies AND be a decent fighter, so they stuck with something she should focus on until help can arrive. Five minutes is impossible to always keep, but I can imagine Hibari saying something arrogant like that. xD
